Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi made a heartfelt appeal to Indian Muslims, urging them to stand united against terrorism. In an emotional video message, he requested Muslims attending Friday prayers to wear black armbands as a mark of protest and solidarity.
Owaisi stated that the attack, which tragically claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists, was carried out by terrorists from the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. As a symbolic gesture of unity and condemnation, he urged worshippers to wear black ribbons during Jumma prayers, emphasizing that this act would send a powerful message — that Indian Muslims stand for peace, not terror.
He further tweeted in Hindi, calling on people to demonstrate that foreign forces cannot destroy India’s harmony. Owaisi reiterated that killing innocent people in the name of religion is inhuman and must be rejected by all communities.
Owaisi also participated in an all-party meeting convened by the central government to discuss the national response. Prominent leaders including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and opposition figures like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi were present.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Owaisi expressed his support for decisive action, stating that India has every right to respond under international law. He mentioned that measures such as air and naval blockades or arms trade restrictions against Pakistan could be considered as lawful defensive steps in response to harboring terror outfits.
