Can A Minister Contest Bypolls?
Well, this is a tricky question. Normally, nothing bars a leader to become minister and contest a by-election. But it evokes a lot of criticism as it is not morally correct. But, Minister in Telangana Cabinet Tummala Nageshwar Rao, who is contesting the by-election to Palair Assembly constituency in Khammam district, says he won’t quit either his MLC seat or the Cabinet post. This is naturally going to lead to a lot of criticism from the opponents since Tummala, in the capacity of minister, can misuse official machinery to get elected in the by-election.
In the past, when TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao contested in the by-elections to Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat, Congress candidate T Jeevan Reddy, who was then a minister in Y S Rajasekhar Reddy cabinet, had resigned from the Cabinet and contested the polls. But there is no hard and fast rule that a minister has to resign from the cabinet to contest the by-elections.For that matter, former Chief Minister Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy contested the Assembly by-elections from Panyam in Kurnool district, when he was holding the CMO.
Yet, one would argue that it is not morally justified for Tummala to contest the Palair bypoll by continuing as minister. Will he set a healthy trend by quitting the Cabinet?
Relief To Acharya Will Bring Relief To Jagan, Too?
Senior IAS officer B P Acharya got a reprieve from the State High Court in connection with the allotment of land to Hetero Drugs and Aurobindo Pharma companies at a lesser rate as a quid pro quo for their investments in the group companies of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The High Court agreed with the contention of Acharya’s counsel that the officer had not got any personal benefit from the land allotment to these two drug companies, as alleged by the CBI and hence, it was a fabricated case.
The court had not only stalled the investigation, but also given exemption to him from attending the trial. The court also granted relief to Hetero group official Sarathchandra Reddy.Already, several officials like Sam Bob and Ratna Prabha got the reprieve in the Jagan case either from the courts or from the Centre.
One after the other has been coming out of the case without allegations against them being proved. With all of them getting the reprieve, will Jagan, too, get out of the case?
Vulgarity Crosses Limits In Politics!
These days, politics in the Telugu States seems to have degraded to the level of street fights and war of vulgar wordsPolitical leaders, cutting across party affiliations, are indulging in cheap comments against their rivals, thereby crossing all limits of decencyEverybody had watched comment made by YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja against Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that the latter was luring rival party MLAs as there were no “magallu” (men) in the TDP.
Her comment has invited wrath from not only common people, but even from her own party leaders. There were criticisms that Roja had crossed her limits by using such indecent languageBut the TDP, too, does not have shortage of such “cheap” leaders. TDP legislator Bonda Umamaheshwar Rao is one such leaderOne does not know whether he was given the green signal by Naidu or not, Bonda shot his mouth off at Roja immediately, saying she was in the TDP in the past and she had fair knowledge of how many “magallu” (men) were there in the party.
Needless to say, it was a very cheap and vulgar comment.Last evening, too, Bonda made ugly comments on YSR Congress party MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy in a television debate. He called Chevireddy as red sander smuggler and a thief. He also addressed the YSRC MLA as “Orey Chevireddy.” One doesn’t know how far this kind of leaders would go, denigrating the politics.
Aadala To Be TDP’s Fourth Candidate For RS?
Political circles are rife with rumours that Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is contemplating fielding a fourth candidate from the party in the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Andhra Pradesh.Elections will be held for four Rajya Sabha seats from AP in the month of June. Going by the numerical strength in the Assembly, the TDP will get three seats and YSR Congress party will get one.
Each candidate requires the voting of 42 MLAs. However, Naidu is said to have started moving his pawns shrewdly to deny the fourth seat to the YSRC and secure it for the TDP by fielding a fourth candidate.Naidu’s confidence stems from the fact that he would be able to lure as many MLAs as possible from the YSRC, so that the latter does not have enough strength to win the RS seat. Already, around a dozen MLAs have joined the TDP and by the time, RS elections take place, it can “procure” another 10-15 MLAs from YSRC.
But, Naidu has already spent huge amounts on “luring” the YSRC MLAs and he needs a financially strong candidate to “purchase” more MLAs. So, he is learnt to have asked former minister Aadala Prabhakar Reddy, a rich contractor, to contest the RS elections as fourth candidate on behalf of the TDP and it is his responsibility to spend money on luring the rival party candidates.
Aadala, who had already lost huge money in the last Lok Sabha elections from Nellore, is reluctant to contest the RS polls as fourth contest, as the chances of victory are bleak. However, if there is a possibility of more YSRC MLAs defecting to the TDP on their own, he would consider the contest and take the risk, sources said.
Bobby, What Next?
Ever since Sardaar Gabbar Singh is released, the film’s director Bobby has been missing. Bobby, who had been hogging limelight until the film’s release, is totally off the media glare. While Pawan Kalyan is prepping up for his next with director SJ Surya, there’s no buzz about Bobby’s next directorial. In addition to this, rumours are afloat that Bobby’s image is damaged with Sardaar. And even this is expected to have an affect on his next film in the trade.
After his debut film Power turned to be hit, Bobby was seen as a successful writer-turned-director. But Sardaar overturned Bobby. As the film bitten the dust, Bobby is no longer enjoying his previous image and many in the industry are tagging him as ‘flop director’.Grapevine is that Bobby is adopting a wait & watch policy so that people, media would forget Sardaar’s disaster run.
Meanwhile, it’s learnt that he’s getting his scripts ready so that projects would materialise once time’s come. After all hits and flops are part & parcel of the industry. Let’s hope Bobby would overcome this phase soon.

Surya Picks Mahesh Babu Over Dhanush
Tamil actor-director SJ Surya was approached to play a baddie in Dhanush’s forthcoming film ‘Enai Nokki Paayum Thota’, but he rejected the project when he was offered main antagonist role in superstar Mahesh Babu’s next film with AR Murugadoss.Actually, the makers had initially planned to zero in a Bollywood star for the negative role. Nonetheless, director Murugadoss feels Surya will be best pick for the role.
Apparently, Mahesh Babu also has no issues, since he had earlier worked with Surya for a film called Nani.Mahesh Babu – Murugadoss film will be made as Telugu-Tamil bilingual with a lavish budget of around Rs 80-90 crores. Tagore Madhu will be producing the film that will start rolling from June end or in July. The makers are yet to finalize heroine to star opposite Mahesh Babu in the film tipped to be a high octane action entertainer.

Hyd Police Acting Tough On Big Films?
Are Hyderabad police acting tough on top stars’ films? If the ongoing happenings is anything to go by, the answer is unfortunately yes. Recently, the city police had several objections in giving permission for Sardaar Gabbar Singh’s audio launch event at Gachibowli stadium citing security issues. The venue had to be shifted to a star hotel later. The restrictions got even stricter during the midnight and early morning shows of Sardaar Gabbar Singh.
Apparently, the police department is not happy with the additional responsibility of controlling the hysteric crowds from midnight till the wee hours.Adding to this, there were several complaints that these benefit shows were full of corrupt middlemen who encashed fans’ craze by charging thousands of rupees towards tickets. This must have given the police department a valid reason to act tough.
Now, the Sardaar effect is clearly seen on Allu Arjun’s Sarrainodu. Several enthusiastic fans have been trying hard to get police clearances to organize midnight shows, but buzz is that the Police Commissioner is in no mood to give the permission and chances are less that Sarrainodu will have midnight shows tonight.
Fans are now fearing that this will only continue for Mahesh Babu’s upcoming biggie Brahmotsavam, only to be followed by several other star heroes’ films in the future.
Mahesh Babu calls back his flop director
Tamil director, SJ Suryah back in 2004 directed Superstar Mahesh Babu in a film titled Nani. The movie released amid huge hype and expectations and ended up as a big disaster back then. Now SJ Suryah is called back once again by Mahesh.
It is not a second direction chance but he will play villain in his next film to be directed by AR Murugadoss. SJ Suryah will very soon also direct Pawan Kalyan in a film. Mahesh Babu – ARM movie is reportedly going to be costliest film in the actor’s career.
According to the buzz, the film will be made at a budget of whopping 100 Crore. A major chunk of it will go for the remunerations of Mahesh, Murugadoss and other top class technicians roped in for the project. Mahesh is currently busy wrapping up the shooting of his Brahmotsavam.
The movie is planned for May release as Summer Special. This film will go on floors after Brahmotsavam release. Harris Jairaj will be composing tunes for the film. Country’s best cinematographer, Santosh Sivan is going to crank the camera.
When will the first look be released?
Jr.NTR and Koratala Siva’s ‘Janatha Garage’ is completing the shooting at a brisk pace. The film is expected to release on August 12th as announced earlier. But the question is when the First Look will be unveiled.Earlier, there were speculations that the first look of the film will be released in April. But there was no news about it afterwards.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the first look as NTR will sport a new hair style in this film unlike the one he sported in ‘Nannaku Prematho’. Also the working stills created a good buzz about this film. News is that the first look will be out on 20th May on the occasion of Sr.NTR’s birthday. Let us hope that this news becomes true.
On the other hand, the film has a lot of expectations on it as both the hero and the director team after scoring two blockbusters respectively. Actors like Mohan Lal, Samantha and Nitya Menon add more weight to this film. Also, the film may lock horns with Ram Charan’s ‘Dhruva’ which is expected to release on the same day.
