Although Nagarjuna’s latest film Oopiri has been praised by fans, critics and film lovers and the film even collected decent shares in its 2 week run, it still needed nearly 7 crores to reach the breakeven mark of 44 crores and bring its distributors to the safety shores. Meanwhile in the US, Oopiri is set to cross the $1.5 million mark today.
Just when the third week turned crucial for Oopiri’s box-office prospects, Sardaar entered the scene and hijacked most of Oopiri’s screens across the Telugu states. Even though Oopiri is still running in a decent number of screens, Sardaar mania seems to have squeezed out its Oopiri for now.
Whether Oopiri will end up as a safe venture, if not profitable, is to be seen keeping in view Sardaar’s performance at the box-office. A genuinely good film like Oopiri shouldn’t make losses as it will discourage other passionate filmmakers to try out something new.
The report that a senior Telangana leader who had once played a key role in the Telugu Desam Party had asked sitting TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy to come out of the party and join hands with him to launch a new political party raised many an eyebrow in the political circles.
The senior leader who is presently in an insignificant position in another party is contemplating launching a new political party and thought Revanth would be able to give strength to it, because it was only he who has been taking on the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
He reportedly told Revanth that they, together, would galvanise the support of Reddy community and gradually spread the party across the State in the next two years.
He also promised to bring the support of the Telangana JAC to fight against the TRS government.
It is a different matter that Revanth had turned down the offer stating that he was comfortable in the TDP and did not want to take risk at this stage.
He said many political parties were formed as alternatives to the TRS, but they all disappeared subsequently. So, it is better to try his luck with the TDP itself.
One must have got a faint idea by now as to who this gentleman who has given the bumper offer to Revanth could be. If the guess is right, it must be former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who is waiting for a break in politics and is looking for a scapegoat to get into limelight. But Revanth refused to become the bakra!

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh had seen light today in record number of theaters across the globe. It is no exaggeration to say Sky is the limit for the hype and expectations on the film until now but the talk emerging from the Overseas Premieres and Benefit Shows back home is totally disappointing.
The movie had seen a Pre-release business of about 102 Crore. If the talk does not improve later in the day, buyers and distributors are in for massive losses.
Pawan Kalyan should come out and promote the film aggressively to make sure the trade is not affected by the prevalent bad talk.
Sardaar Gabbar Singh released amid huge hype and expectations, probably the film content could not match the expectations of the fans and as a result, the talk from the fans is disappointing.. We will have to see how the audience receive it at the box office. On the flipside, its high time film makers realize that audience are expecting are fed of routine mass masalas.
Team ‘Brahmotsavam’ has released a new poster on the auspicious day of ‘Ugadi’. The poster is simple and subtle. But it is quiet effective. For an actor of Mahesh Babu’s stature, this is completely unusual. But the poster indicates that the movie is all about family values and relations.
The poster clearly speaks about the importance of families. Kudos to Director Sreekanth Addala for making such a powerful poster and providing valuable inputs to the designer. The red background also speaks a lot and it is in perfect sync with the theme.
Technical team features Mickey.J.Meyer for music, Rathnavelu for cinematography and Sreekar Prasad for editing. Apart from the lead actors the supporting cast is filled with actors like Sathyaraj, Jayasudha, Naresh, Revathi, Tanikella Bharani and Brahmaji.
The movie is on final stage of shooting and the entire movie will be wrapped up in a couple of weeks. Post production works will begin immediately and the makers are aiming for a release by month of May. Watch out this space for more updates.
Victory Venkatesh’s Babu Bangaram First Look Poster got released the other day as Ugadi Special. Venkatesh is looking fresh and reminds of the old days of Gharshana in the movie. Coming to the other things, a source in the movie unit tells us there is a comedy parody track of NTR’s Nannaku Prematho.
They say the track is the major highlight of the film but will not be annoying in any way. The movie shooting is currently in its last leg. The last but one schedule of the film began today in Annapurna Studios.
The schedule will go on for 10 days and after that the makers will shift to a Foreign Location for the shooting of two songs there. With the foreign schedule, the entire shoot will be complete. The movie business is going on at full swing and it will be the highest ever for Venkatesh Solo movie.
Venkatesh and Nayantara until now, romanced together in two films – Lakshmi and Tulasi. Both the films were big hits back then. Fans are looking at a hattrick now, according to the sentiment.
Story:
Sardaar Gabbar Singh begins with the introduction about the history of Rattanpur and the kings ruling the area. But the present King (Mukesh Rishi) gets a big headache due to the local feudal lord Bhairav Singh (Sharad Kelkar). He requests the government to intervene, Government sends Sardaar to Rattanpur via a promotional transfer to check the menace.
After his arrival, Sardaar falls in love with Princess Arshi Devi (Kajal) and first half ends with the clash of Bhairav Singh and Sardaar. It was then, Bhairav Singh gets Sardaar suspended. The rest of the story is all about how Sardaar stops Bhairav Singh’s illegal activities and destroy his feudal lord system restoring peace in Rattanpur.
Performances:
Sardaar Gabbar Singh is a one man show by Pawan Kalyan. In fact, the film is amalgamation of several fan tribute scenes for the actor and so Pawan Kalyan fans will enjoy the role blended with style, attitude, comic timing, acute punches, powerful dialogues and action episodes. The dance performance in the Sangeeth Episode will be a treat to fans.
Kajal Aggarwal is seen as a helpless princess and shares decent chemistry with our Gabbar. The villains from Sharad Kelkar to Pradeep Rawat have got some bad characterization which will not help the film. Brahmi and Pridhviraj were wasted in insignificant roles. Even our ‘Samba’ Ali is a disappointment.
Technical Performance:
First things first, the script delivered by Pawan Kalyan is disappointing to say the least. It is a routine beaten to death story and Director Bobby has to lift the spirits with some innovative scenes. He tried his level best to showcase Pawan Kalyan as how fans would like. But then with out a proper script, it is always tough to drive the point home.
After a strictly average first half, the proceedings go totally wayward in the second half and the Climax is again a big disappointment. It is amazing to see how the team believed our changing audience will be satisified with such mindless commercial entertainer.
Devi Sri Prasad had come up with couple of good songs and the back ground score is particularly very impressive. Besides Pawan Kalyan (the actor), Devi seem to be the one who did maximum justice to his role. Dialogues penned by Sai Madhav are good. Arthur Wilson’s Camera work is good while Production Values are grand. Gowtham Raju is not so sincere with his scissors. The Art department work by Brahma Kadali is good.
Plus Points:
1. Pawan Kalyan
2. Devi’s Back Ground Score
3. Anthyakshari Episode
Minus Points:
1. Story
2. Screenplay
3. Disappointing Second Half
4. Cliched Climax
Final Say:
Sardaar Gabbar Singh is no where near the output of Gabbar Singh or the expectations set by it. The film will end up as a disappointment for Gabbar Singh franchise lovers more due to a lack luster script. Pawan Kalyan fans may relish some moment of their demigod here and there but may not be satisfied fully. If you are going, make sure you carry very low expectations.
Bollywood top critic Rajeev Masad was in Hyderabad yesterday to interview Power Star Pawan Kalyan whose latest flick Sardaar Gabbar Singh is releasing simultaneously in Hindi. As we reported earlier, Rajeev puzzled Pawan about his rivalry with Mahesh Babu. Here is Pawan’s answer to the question.
‘We both came together for piracy. He (Mahesh Babu) gave voiceover to my film Jalsa. We don’t have any personal rivalry,’ said Pawan Kalyan. However, there is huge competition between these two superstars for top slot in Tollywood.
Another interesting question asked by Rajeev was, ‘Your fans want you to do a film with Rajamouli.’ Pawan Kalyan replied in his style saying, ‘I met Rajamouli two to three times, I want films to happen and don’t want to plan them.’
Pawan Kalyan never approached any director till date. In fact, he likes to work with class directors who can get in sync with his work style. Pawan won’t surrender for directors, and in addition he involves in writing and other departments.
Meanwhile, a special screening of Sardaar Gabbar Singh is being held for Hindi media persons in Mumbai. Telugu premieres will be screened tonight in good number of theaters across the globe.
