Rajinikanth Told Amitabh Not to Play Villain in Robot
Amitabh Bachchan has revealed that his good friend and Tamil superstar Rajinikanth asked him not to play villain in the former’s blockbuster Robot.
Directed by S Shankar, the 2010 Tamil movie starred Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles.
“Shankar had come to me and he wanted me to play the villain in Robot. I called Rajini. He said, ‘People will not accept you as a villain, so don’t do it’. I said, ‘Okay’,” Mr Bachchan said in an interview in Mumbai.
There were reports that Big B was approached for Robot 2, but earlier, the veteran actor had dismissed any such speculation.
Meanwhile, Mr Bachchan will reportedly be a part of Dhoom 4.
Referring to this information, Big B said, “I heard it for the first time.”
The 73-year-old actor will be next seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s Wazir with Farhan Akhtar and Aditi Rao Hydari. He will also be seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s Te3n and Aankhen 2.
“We will start Aankhen 2 in March. I play the same role,” he said.
Aankhen, a 2002 thriller drama, was directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film was an adaptation of Mr Shah’s Gujarati play Andhalo Pato.
Aankhen tracks the story of Vijay Singh Rajput played by Big B, a hard-working but temperamental man, who has spent all his life working for one bank and fetching them international recognition.
When Vijay loses his mind and goes on a violent rampage beating up another employee, he is subsequently fired. He decides to take vengeance by organising a heist, and having the same bank robbed by three blind men to avoid suspicion.
NTR Emulates Mahesh Babu
Prior to the release of ‘Srimanthudu’, there was a remarkable change in Mahesh. One month before the release of the movie, Mahesh became a media-friendly man, making himself available to any requests for an interview.
One comment heard at that time was that Mahesh needed the transformation following the debacles of ‘Nenokkadine’ and ‘Aagadu’.
Whatever may be his reasons, the strategy did pay off handsomely for Mahesh. And following in Mahesh’s footsteps is NTR Jr. Even Junior is going through a rough patch in his life.
On the personal side, his relationship with the Nandamuri and Nara families is at an all-time low. On the professional side too, he can do with a box-office hit.
His last movie ‘Temper’ managed to save face for him, breaking even and ending a disastrous run at the ticket window for him.
When the going gets tough, the stars get going. And it is the media they turn to for support. Jr NTR is throwing a party exclusively for the media fraternity tomorrow at Daspalla Hotel in Hyderabad.
Let’s hope his strategy yields similar results as it did for Mahesh.
Kaththi Remake Is Chiranjeevi’s Last Movie!
Megastar Chiranjeevi is all set to do Kathi remake that will start filming shortly. VV Vinayak is currently working on the script to suit the nativity and sensibilities of our audience.
Vijay who is younger than Chiranjeevi has done this film in Tamil so the writers team is working on making changes according to Chiranjeevi’s age.
While mega fans are happy to know that Chiranjeevi is back to acting, Megastar has dropped a bomb on them on this New Year.
When few fans went to wish Megastar on New Year, he has reportedly said that Kaththi remake will be his last movie and he has no interest do more films.
Directors like Puri Jagannadh are still hoping to direct a movie with the Megastar but Chiranjeevi is not in a mood for more now. Maybe if Kaththi turns out to be a blockbuster Chiranjeevi might think of doing more films.
Fans will make sure to make this movie a huge blockbuster to welcome back or shall we say give send off to Megastar in a grand style.
Naidu Government Only For TDP Leaders?
When late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in the Opposition, he used to attack the then Chandrababu Naidu government of favouring only “pachcha chokkalu” (yellow-shirt leaders, meaning TDP activists) who used to loot the public money like “pandi kokkulu” (bandikoots).
Now, the situation seems to have come to the same again. The present Naidu government, too, has been allocating government works only to the TDP leaders and their henchmen, ignoring the Opposition party workers.
YSR Congress on Saturday demanded the TDP Government withdraw the GOs allocating developmental works to party nominees ignoring the local MLAs.
“The State Government has issued GOs authorising the local TDP leaders, including those who lost in the previous elections, to carry out works and even releasing funds for them. This is against the rule book and we demand that the GOs are withdrawn immediately,” party MLA RK Roja told media persons here.
“This is particularly evident in the constituencies represented by YSR Congress. Ignoring the elected representatives, the State has issued GOs releasing the funds for the local TDP leaders which is against the rules. Among them there are certain leaders who are accused in the recent call money racket,” she alleged.
At Rayachoti, Bapatla, Santhanuthalapadu, Kamalapuram, Maidkuru, Araku, Allagadda and other places, the elected representatives were ignored and the local TDP leaders were authorised to take up the developmental works, which is violative of the provisions in the rule book, she said and demand that the GOs be withdrawn immediately. Failing which, she said the party will launch agitational programmes.

‘Balakrishna Made Me Feel Comfortable On Sets’
Actor Gautham Kurup, who shared screen space with Nandamuri Balakrishna in forthcoming Telugu actioner “Dictator”, says the latter ensured that he was absolutely comfortable on the sets.
“It was wonderful working with him. He insisted that I call him Bala, and not refer to him as sir. Not only was he friendly, but he also encouraged me to work in more Telugu films. He made me feel so comfortable,” Gautham, who plays one of the baddies in the film, told IANS.
The movie, which is directed by Sriwass, marks Gautham’s debut in Telugu filmdom.
“I have a brief role. Bala and I have two scenes. Though it’s a small role, I didn’t mind taking it up because it was important for me to start my Telugu innings with the right project. I couldn’t have got a better film,” he said.
“Dictator”, which also stars Anjali and Sonal Chauhan, is slated for release on January 13.
Gautham, who has worked in Tamil films such as “Thuppakki” and “Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe”, is in talks for several projects.
His debut Hindi film “Bhanwarey” is gearing up for release.
KCR Bhagaavo, Telangana Bachaavo!
During Telangana statehood agitation days, TRS chief K.Chandrasekhar Rao gave a slogan, “Telangana wale jaago, Andhra wale Bhaago’ (Arise people of Telangana, Andhraites run away from Telangana).
Now, the main Opposition in Telangana Congress has come out with new slogan to counter TRS in GHMC polls.
The Congress party’ new slogan for GHMC polls is “KCR Bhagaavo, Telangana Bachaavo” (Chase away KCR, Save Telangana).
TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the love and affection being shown by KCR, KTR and TRS leaders towards Seemandhra settlers in Hyderabad was only to garner votes and they will show their true colours soon after GHMC polls are over and harass Seemandhra people as usual.
He said only Congress can assure safety and security for Seemandhra people in Hyderabad and urged them not to believe in the false promises and claims of KCR, KTR & co.
Money-Back Policy From Political Parties
We have heard of money-back schemes from corporate houses but here is an alliance announcing cash –back scheme for voters.
Lok Satta, CPI and CPM have come together forming an alliance of ‘One Hyderabad’ for the upcoming GHMC elections.
The parties released a common minimum programme that set out their promises if voted to power. Here’s the interesting thing among their pledges.
The alliance guarantees to pay Rs 250 per citizen as a penalty if it fails to deliver promised services within a stipulated time frame.
It has promised a ‘Services Guarantee Act’ under which citizens will get essential services like water connections, birth and death certificates and the like in a stipulated time frame.
Compared to the money and muscle power of the TRS, it is doubtful as to what inroads the alliance can make in Hyderabad with its cash-back schemes.
Nevertheless, it is indeed a unique concept. As they say, ‘Necessity is the mother of invention’.
What A Lame Excuse!
Why is Chandrababu Naidu so keen on an airport at Bhogapuram? Not many are willing to buy his claim that it is for development. But political gossip offers a different reason.
Rumor is that Naidu believes that the majority of lands in the area proposed for the airport are ‘benami’ lands of YS Jagan. Through the use of an airport, Naidu intends to deprive Jagan of them. But even though it is a rumor, it is certainly laughable.
The survey teams in Bhogapuram scouting the lands for the airport are having to travel with a heavy police escort for fear of trouble from the farmers.
If the farmers were really benamis, why would they go to all that trouble of taking on the administration to prevent the acquisition of lands which may not belong to them?
Is Jagan instigating them to create trouble? Again, a laughable accusation!
Clearly, Chandrababu Naidu will go to any lengths to see to it that one section of society is pampered at the expense of the rest of the state. He perhaps thinks he has been given a mandate only for that.
