TRADE: Kshanam adds more screens

Backed by positive talk and reviews, PVP Cinemas’ Kshanam starring Adivi Sesh, Adah Sharma and Anasuya is doing well at the box office. The movie is doing exceptionally well in Overseas and A centers. Going by the increased demand, the makers have added more screens to the film in many areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Kshanam is the pick of all the eight films that released on Friday. Remaining films bit dust very badly. The makers now have to increase the promotions to make sure the film reaches to audience. The makers have got the release timing correct as there are no notable releases at the box except for Nani’s Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gadha.

Kshanam is made on a shoestring budget of 2.25 Crore and it is easily recoverable given the talk. With some promotional push, the movie will also bring profits to all those involved in the film trade. This is the first commercial success for PVP Cinemas and this will boost their confidence ahead of their big Summer release, Brahmotsavam.

Seven Heroines in Venkatesh’s next

Victory Venkatesh is currently shooting for his Babu Bangaram under the direction of Maruthi. The movie is being readied for July 1st release. Venkatesh will be doing a film in the direction of Nenu Sailaja fame Kishore Tirumala after this project. We are said that the makers are in talks with Kajal Aggarwal to romance the actor in the film.

Besides Kajal, there will be six other heroines in the film. These heroines will be Senior heroines who previously worked with Venkatesh. There is a surprise element in the film with them. Currently the pre-production works of the movie are going on at full swing. The movie will go on floors in the second half of the year.

Ram Mohan Paruvu who produced films like Golconda High School, Uyyala Jampala and others will be lolling out money bags for this project. Kishore Tirumala’s first film, Nenu Shailaja is a big blockbuster. The movie amassed more than 20 Crore in its full run at the box office and ended up as the biggest hit in Ram’s career. Akhila Priya clearly knew the political strategy

The credits all goes to K.Chandrasekar Rao for creating defectors in politics. He lured most of the TDP MLA’s inside TRS and now this has been a common practice in politics. Chandrababu Naidu followed same strategy and he initially condemned KCR’s tactics in Telangana.

But he followed the same in Andhra Pradesh. Bhooma Nagi Reddy and his daughter who were loyal to YSRCP have now jumped their loyalties to Telugu Desam Party. Akhila Priya was elected as Allagadda MLA after the tragic death of her mother in a road accident.

Due to the sympathy wave she got a huge victory in the polls. She became MLA for the first time and she never knew anything about politics. But now she proved that she knew politics by changing her loyalties to another party.

These defections are more shocking because Bhuma family was more loyal to YS Family. Some of them believe it is just a trick by Akhila to attract TDP, but others fell she hopes to get a ministerial berth and that has instigated her to change loyalties. It might be any reason but now she is street smart !

AP Is Not Your Grandfather’s Property, Lokesh!

Nara Lokesh Naidu, son of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and general secretary of Telugu Desam Party, is not even two years in active politics of the State. But, he has already started feeling he is the most powerful politician of the State.

It was evident from the way, he gave a call for the party activists to see that there will be no Opposition to the TDP in the State by next elections.

He is learnt to have told the party workers in Kadapa district to strive day and night to ensure that the Opposition parties get wiped out in the State.

He, however, spared only Pulivendula constituency, saying that except in this constituency, the TDP should decimate Opposition in the entire State.

Lokesh seems to be under the impression that people of Andhra Pradesh are fools and they would blindly go by the dream world created by his father. But, it does not take much time for him to realise that AP is not his grandfather’s property. And that it is impossible for any ruling party to decimate the Opposition in any State.

Even in Telangana, ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, despite having all the advantages and people’s support, will not be able to wipe out the Opposition completely.

And in AP, YSR Congress party is not so weak to get confined only to Pulivendula. People will always look for an effective alternative, if the ruling party fails to perform.

It is better for Lokesh to stop day-dreaming and learnt to be practical in politics. In the words of Rao Ramesh in Seethamma Vakitlo…: “Veediki evaranna cheppandraa..”

Do Not Assign Them Ministries Then

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and MLC Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu said that the YSR Congress MLAs and leaders were joining the TDP for the reason that they had believed in the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He refuted YS Jagan’s claims that the MLA’s were lured with the promise of cash and other incentives. This is really a difficult statement to believe from Muddukrishnama Naidu.

If the YSRCP MLA’s were not lured with the promise of incentives, if they really joined the TDP in the belief of Naidu’s leadership, then the TDP should prove its sincerity and that of the YSRCP MLA’s by not giving Minister posts to any of the defectors.

If they are refused Minister posts, then it would be interesting to watch how long the likes of Akhila Priya and Jaleel Khan would continue to be motivated by CBN’s leadership.

Trade Talk: Thumbs Down

Sunil’s attempt at establishing himself as a commercial hero with ‘Krishnashtami’ did not materialize. Despite decent openings, the film failed to strike a chord with the audience and even Dil Raju seems to have given up on promoting the film.

As for Nani’s ‘KGVPG’, the collections of the movie have been steady in the second week and the movie is inching well towards break-even for the buyers. A good third week should result in decent profits.

And as many as eight films have released on Friday of which PVP’s ‘Kshanam’ and Nagarjuna backed ‘Padesave’ have attracted attention.

Since there are no big releases lined until the end of March, the industry hopes that some of the movies releasing on Friday will go on to do good business.

Reel Buzz: Bunny Cause Of Rift?

For the past three years, Tamil director Lingusamy has been trying to make a film with Allu Arjun. While Lingusamy is keen on making a movie with a big Tollywood hero, Allu Arjun is also interested in expanding his market in Tamil Nadu.

Arjun reportedly promised Lingusamy a project after ‘Sarainodu’. And for the past one year, Lingusamy has been ironing out the script.

In fact, so focused is Lingusamy on Bunny’s project that he even shelved Pandem Kodi2 (Sandekoli 2) with Vishal.

Now Vishal who is badly in need of a hit had pinned all his hopes on this project. Highly upset with the project being cancelled, Vishal has lashed out at Lingusamy.

Unfortunately but unintentionally, Bunny has become the cause of a rift between Vishal and Lingusamy.

Suriya, a bigger star outside Tamil Nadu too: Nagarjuna

Telugu film star Akkineni Nagarjuna says Suriya, whom he admires, is a bigger star outside of Tamil Nadu too.

“I’m a fan of a very few actors. Suriya happens to be one among them. I fell in love with his work, especially after ‘Ghajini’, and I think he is a bigger star not just in Tamil Nadu. He is equally popular in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana too,” Nagarjuna said at the audio launch of his upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual “Thozha” on Friday.

Suriya was the chief guest at the event, where also present were Karthi and Tamannaah Bhatia, the lead actors of “Thozha”.

Talking about the film, which is the official remake of French drama “The Intouchables”, Nagarjuna said he was lucky to have worked in it.

“I consider myself extremely lucky to have been a part of this project. It is a film very close to my heart,” he said, adding that he found a younger brother in Karthi after working with him in “Thozha”.

In the film, Nagarjuna plays a quadriplegic millionaire bound to a wheelchair, and Karthi will be seen as his caretaker.

Taking a dig at Karthi, he said: “My only problem with the film was that Karthi got to dance with Tamannaah, but I couldn’t.”

Nagarjuna also credited Karthi for helping him to dub in Tamil after many years.

Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the film is produced by PVP Cinema and it’s slated for release on March 25.

The film is titled “Oopiri” in Telugu.

Box Office: Economics of Krishna Gaadi Veera Prama Gaadha

Leading production house 14 Reels Entertainments, known for making big movies like “Dookudu”, has produced “Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha” with Nani and new heroine Mehreen.

The film is now in its third week. Although it has raked in good money so far, it cannot be declared a hit.

Take a look at the overall profits/losses the film gets at end of its run.

The film was produced by 14 Reels with the budget of Rs 14 Crs (Cost of production of Rs 12 cr + Print and Publicity Rs. 2 cr).

The producers sold the movie’s theatrical rights of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states for Rs 8.5 Crs to Abhishek Pictures. Rs 4 Cr came from Satellite rights.

From overseas, Rest of India and other ancillary rights like music, digital have fetched the producers another Rs 4 Crs. So, 14 Reels were already in profit of Rs 2 Cr before the release.

However, the film might make a loss of Rs. 2 cr for sub distributors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. So far, the movie has earned Rs 10 Cr share from theatrical revenue worldwide (including overseas figures).

Except overseas distributors, all distributors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would loss an estimated 10 to 15 % by end of its run. If it really continues its good run in 4th and 5th week, then distributors might get breakeven.

Overall, “Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha” is profitable venture for producers and loss for distributors in AP and TS.

Allu Arjun’s ‘Sarrainodu’ To Release On April 22

Actor Allu Arjun’s Telugu actioner “Sarrainodu”, which is directed by Boyapati Srinu, will hit the screens worldwide on April 22, said a source.

“The makers had originally planned to release the film on April 8, which happens to be Arjun’s birthday. However, Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Sardaar Gabbar Singh’ releases on the same day and, hence, they have locked April 22 as the release day,” the source told media.

The film’s audio will be released towards the end of March.

Also starring Rakul Preet Singh, Catherine Tresa and Aadi Pinisetty, the film has music by S.S. Thaman.

“Sarrainodu” is produced by Geetha Arts. The film will also be dubbed in Tamil and Malayalam.
