From Miss AP To Judging Miss AP
Way back in 2005, a Hyderabad-based young fashion designing student of Punjabi origin Deepa won the Miss Andhra Pradesh crown. She later changed her name to Poonam Kaur Lal and entered Tollywood with Teja’s Oka Vichitram and went on to act in numerous films.
Last night, Poonam was in Vijayawada to judge the first edition of Tollywood Miss AP beauty pageant on the occasion of valentine’s day. Young contestants who earlier won local beauty contests in several cities participated in the Tollywood Miss AP partner pageant.
Poonam joined star comedians Brahmanandam and Ali, who also acted as the judges. Poonam will next be seen in Simbu’s long delayed Vettai Mannan and a Telugu film titled Antha Ni Maayalone.
And The Best Mass Hero Award Goes To.
After getting the box-office successes and accolades from critics and fans, it is the awards which duly recognize their talents that the actors cherish the most. Last night, Kollywood celebrities graced the 9th edition of the popular Edison Awards that are presented annually to celebrate the excellence in Tamil movies.
Apart from the usual Best Actor category, the Edison Awards also has a Best Mass Hero category. This time, the award has been given to the talented national award winning actor Dhanush for the film Maari. Expressing his happiness on getting the award, Dhanush said Maari is his most favorite role.
Released in 2015, Maari was produced by Dhanush himself and it stars Kajal Aggarwal as his love interest. The film, even though appreciated for its stylish making, ended up as an average grosser. Incidentally, Dhanush won the Best Actor award for his role in VIP (Raghuvaran BTech) last year.

There has been huge hue and cry over Pawan Kalyan’s journey in special flights. A section of people are lamenting on his expenditure and some are speculating about a few hidden sponsors behind. But how much it costs to fly in private jets?
One can travel to and fro from Cochin to Hyderabad in a special flight by spending around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, depending on the kind of flight. It is needless to say that it is not a big sum for Power Star who has the potential to earn Rs 20 Cr per film.
Adding to that, spending 2-5 lakh on a ticket is not a big thing because, even the business class ticket from Hyderabad to USA costs the same. Apart from that, stars like Pawan Kalyan generally doesn’t move alone but will be accompanied by a crew of 5-6 close aides. If everything is kept under calculation, it’s not even Rs 50K- 1 lakh spent on each ticket when travelled in special flight between Cochin to Hyderabad. So, no sponsor is required for this petty thing, say analysts.
Brahmotsavam Cameraman arrested?
Our readers are aware that Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Brahmotsavam is related to Lord Venkateshwara Swamy’s Brahmotsavam event. The other day a cameraman of the movie unit and his team went to Tirupati and shot the rituals at Tirupati on the occasion of Radha Sapthami. For security and other reasons, filming of rituals and events in Tirupati is prohibited by TTD.
Seeing them shoot, TTD officials have complained to the local police. All the team were taken in to custody and were later let off knowing their intent. Brahmotsavam is currently being canned in Ramoji Film City. The movie is being readied for Summer release. Samantha, Kajal Agarwal and Pranitha are the female leads.
Srikanth Addala who delivered a super hit to Mahesh with Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is hoping to recreate the magic once again. Potluri Vara Prasad will be producing the film on his PVP Cinemas banner. Mickey J Meyer is the music composer.

Telugu Warriors, the champions of CCL 6
After entertaining the Telugu movie fans with an exceptional display of their cricketing skills, Telugu Warriors pulled today off a sensational victory over the Karnataka Bulldozers in the finals of the 6th edition of the Celebrity Cricket League.
Chasing a mammoth target of 208 runs, the Telugu Warriors displayed a professional batting prowess, with its star batsman Sachin Joshi playing a heroic innings of 114 runs in 49 balls. Another player of the match for the Telugu stars was young actor Prince, who scored an electrifying half century, leading the team towards clinching the victory.
In the first innings, the Karnataka Bulldozers posted a huge 207 runs on the board, thanks to a scintillating knock by actor D Sharma who narrowly missed his century. Telugu Warriors was led by Venkatesh and Akhil, who proudly lifted the cup.
Hudhud Hit Vizag Impresses Star Cricketer
Yesterday, Rohit Sharma, one of the star batsmen in the Indian cricket team who is in Vizag for the final match in the ongoing T20 series with Sri Lanka, clicked a few photographs of the RK Beach from his hotel room and posted them on his Facebook page.
Rohit was quite impressed with Vizag’s beauty that he also quoted, “Clean water clean roads = clean living. So impressed with this city. #Vizag.” To those who are still unaware, Rohit has his roots in Vizag as his mother hails from the city.
While Rohit’s Vizag fans are thrilled with his compliments, they are also remembering how the Hudhud hit City of Destiny has been transformed from ashes to now acquiring the smart city status. Fans are also lauding Chandrababu’s unrelenting efforts in rebuilding the city’s lost glory in such a short span.
Father & Son Wanted to Test Strength in Hyd
While the poor show of TDP in GHMC polls stunned many, inside buzz within the party revealed several surprising things. Of which the one thing is that the top brass of TDP knew that it’s going to lose in GHMC elections.
TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh apparently told their candidates to not to spend money in the election and asked them to contest on the party’s plank but nothing.
It’s said that there is a strategy behind the polls. Insiders say that Mr Naidu and Mr Lokesh want to test the real strength of TDP in Hyderabad and doesn’t want to influence people with money or liquor or freebies.
This resulted in the massive defeat for TDP in Hyderabad as it has fallen down to a single digit making it easy for the TRS. Perhaps, TDP had already made its mind that it wouldn’t win in GHMC elections. Only time will tell whether this story is true or not.
TV Channel Bids Goodbye To Ali?
Over the past three decades, Ali has been the most wanted star comedian in Tollywood for his typical dialogue delivery and funny antics. Ali is also a most sought after anchor for many shows and filmy events.
However, Ali’s slip of tongue and derogatory comments against heroines’ figures and body parts invited the star comedian a lot of troubles from women’s groups. Star actresses like Anushka and Samantha were the actresses who had to face embarrassing comments from Ali.

‘All young heroes should learn from Nani’
Telugu Film Industry people now saying that we have found our own Kamal Haasan in Telugu in form of Nani. As Nani defies conventional commercial hero and tries to experiment with myriad roles, he’s been revered as Kamal Haasan of Telugu Cinema. Senior actor Brahmaji, who rarely gives compliments, went on to state Nani as Kamal Haasan of Telugu Cinema.
This is not all. Brahmaji shared that it wasn’t easy to act alongside Nani who does it with ease. He said he’s fortunate to work with an actor like Nani stressing that he is saying this after being in film industry for decades. Heaping praises on Nani further, Brahmaji attacked gen-X heroes.
“All young heroes should learn from Nani. Punch dialogues won’t suit to young heroes. They suit to stars, superstars who have been in industry from longtime. See how Nani won’t do anything extra other than what his character needs in the film.
He’s really good actor,” said Brahmaji much to surprise of many. With his latest offing Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha opened to hit talk and faring well at the ticket windows, ‘Natural Star’ Nani has now one of the most happening heroes in Telugu. But whether he could match upto Kamal Haasan or not, only time will tell.
