’24’ Most Ambitious Film Of My Career: Suriya
Actor Suriya, who is currently shooting for “S3”, says upcoming Tamil sci-fi thriller “24” is the most ambitious film of his career. “It’s a very special film. It’s the most ambitious film of my career. The vast canvas on which it’s made, makes it very ambitious,” Suriya told IANS.
Refusing to divulge more information about the project, he said: “It’s the script that caught my attention. We are trying something new and I don’t want to spoil the fun by talking about it now. I’m sure it will dazzle audiences”. Rumoured to be based on the concept of time travel, the film features Suriya in a triple role. He will be playing an elder brother and younger brother. He will also be seen as the son of the elder brother.
Directed by Vikram Kumar, the film also stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen in important roles. “I really like Vikram’s work. With each project, he’s set the bar higher. We are going to push it further with ’24’,” he added.
Nannaku Prematho Hit By Piracy
There is no bigger threat to the existence of Tollywood than film piracy. Each year, this devastating menace is causing a huge loss to the tune of several hundred crores to Tollywood and both the governments.
Even though filmmakers take strict measures to control piracy, pirates have been finding hi-tech ways to spread their roots. The latest film to fall prey to the piracy menace is NTR’s Sankranthi hit, Nannaku Prematho.
The film was made with a whopping budget of nearly 50 crores and its box-office collections have already zoomed into the 30 crores club. However, the latest piracy is posing a huge threat to the film’s profits.
Nannaku Prematho has fell in the hands of Australian pirates who are circulating the DVDs of Nannaku Prematho along with NTR’s previous films, Temper and Baadshah. This exciting combo offer is tempting a section of audiences not just in Australia but also from other countries since the DVDs have already started spreading to other parts of the world.
NTR needs no big break after Nannaku Prematho
Young Tiger NTR worked really hard to make sure that his Nannaku Prematho releases for Sankranthi. Usually heroes opt for a big break after such hard work. But Junior is in no mood of taking rest. The regular shooting of his next, Janatha Garage will begin from February 10th.
The makers will first shoot the scenes not involving the actor first. Tarak will join the shoot a week later. The makers are considering Janatha Garage (with a tagline – Ikkada Anni Repairlu Cheyyabadunu) as the title of the film even though they did not announce it officially.
They are planning to release the movie on August 12th, 2016. The release date working in the movie’s favour as there is a long weekend holiday due to Independence day holiday on Monday.
Mytri Film Makers who turned producers with Srimanthudu will be producing this film as well. Yerineni Naveen, Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar (Thammudu) and CVM (Mohan) are the producers. Devi Sri Prasad will be composing music as Koratala’s previous films – Mirchi and Srimanthudu.
TDP Govt keeping 800 GOs secret
Transparency is AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s favourite word. He never tires of using this word and tells the world that everything he does is open, clear and transparent. But, do you know that in the last year and a half, Chandrababu Naidu government had kept over 800 GOs top secret. Though the GOs were issued, they haven’t been made public.
This is clearly against the Government’s stated policy of keeping every GO online. Even the officials of the AP Government are worried because, keeping one or two GOs a secret is normal, but keeping over 800 GOs under the wraps is a dangerous thing. Keeping things away from public domain is anti-democratic and anti-transparency, they say. Till a few days ago, the figure of secret GOs used to be around 200. But, the number has now gone up to 800, which is quite dangerous.
It is important that the government makes them public and stop governing the state through secrecy. It is clear that there is definitely something in these GOs.
Now, Book an Uber via SMS
To make their rider experience better and to deal with the poor quality of cellular data services of in India, Uber has now decided to mend ways and make an easy option of ordering a cab.
“We have opened up our API platform for developers to come in and create content and apps to make rider experiences better,” Dimitry Shevelenko, head of business for Uber’s developer platform said. Dimitry further said that a team in Bengaluru has sent out an app that will help the riders book a ride via SMS.
The app named SMSRide is currently in its testing phase and if it’s a success it would be rolled out in March. The company also revealed that it will be reducing their rates and increase the cars count in the country. Uber currently has the cheapest and the best rates when compared to their rivals in India.
‘Nannaku Prematho’ rakes in over Rs.30 crore
Actor Jr NTR’s Telugu drama “Nannaku Prematho”, an emotional drama between a father and son, has grossed over Rs.30 crore worldwide in the first three days since its release. “Despite mixed reviews, the film managed to collect over Rs.30 crore in the first three days worldwide. It is expected to gross over Rs.50 crore in the opening weekend,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS.
Directed by Sukumar, the film, which released on Wednesday, also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Rajendra Prasad and Jagapathi Babu in important roles. The film is inching close to the $1 million mark in the US.
“It has raked in over Rs.4 crore ($717,763) in just two days. It’s performing extremely well and is running to packed houses,” Sanjay of CineGalaxy Inc, the overseas distributor of the film, told IANS.
Jayasudha Set To Join TDP?
Since this afternoon, several media houses have been reporting that veteran actress and former Congress MLA Jayasudha is all set to bid goodbye to Congress and join TDP. Jayasudha will be heading to AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s residence in Hyderabad this evening.
In the past, there were reports that Jayasudha was planning to quit Congress and join TRS. However, the TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior leaders succeeded in convincing her to stay back in the party.
Jayasudha later laughed off the rumors and stated that she will continue to serve Congress. After a glittering career in films, the Sahaja Nati joined Congress at the behest of the then AP CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy and even won the Secunderabad MLA contest in the 2009 polls.
However, Jayasudha lost the 2014 elections and was dropped to 3rd position in the final tally.
Kamal to team up with ‘Cheekati Rajyam’ director again
Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan will reportedly join hands with his erstwhile assistant Rajesh M Selva, director of his last Tamil outing “Thoongaavanam (Cheekati Rajyam in Telugu)”, for a yet untitled Tamil actioner.
“Kamal will team up with Rajesh for another project later this year. It will be an out-and-out action film that’s most likely going to be shot in Mauritius,” a source close to Haasan told IANS. According to the source, this project was supposed to happen even before “Thoongaavanam”.
“Things didn’t work out back then. Hence, they’re reuniting now to work on it. It’s most likely to go on the floors later this year,” the source added. Kamal, meanwhile, is busy putting together the cast for his next Tamil outing with filmmaker T.K. Rajeev Kumar. In this project, Shruti Haasan will team up with her father for the first time.

Good Friday For NTR
Despite mixed reviews, NTR’s Nannaku Prematho is setting cash registers ringing in Overseas. The intellectual revenge drama has taken Overseas audiences by storm. As per trade reports, it was a Good Friday for Jr NTR and distributors of Nannaku Prematho in the United States.
The movie said to have collected 1 Million USD on Friday alone. Though there’s stiff competition from other films, Nannaku Prematho managed to hog the limelight. In recent times, many of NTR’s films tumbled at the Box Office. All his previous films couldn’t do magic.
Thanks to director Sukumar who have good fan base for his films in Overseas. Sukumar-NTR-DSP combo has done the magic.
Trade analysts say that by Saturday, the distributors of Nannaku Prematho would recover all their investments including publicity costs. From Sunday, they’re expected to reap profits which is a good sign.
Why Is Aug 12 Is Imp For NTR?
Jr NTR is not one to rest and relax. Regardless of the fate of ‘Nannaku Prematho’, he has already began working on his next project – Janata Garage. The regular shooting of the film is set to begin from February 10 and NTR will join the shoot from February 17.
NTR has even decided the release date of this Koratala Siva directorial. It would be released on August 12. NTR, who had decided the release date of ‘Nannaku Prematho’ much in advance and did not waver despite a clash with his Baabai, has achieved good results from the daring decision.
Now, he wants to follow it up with Janata Garage. Pre-fixed release date would mean that everything should go as per schedule and there can be no delay in the release. All this shows that NTR is going ahead with a perfect plan.
Art director AS Prakash has already constructed a huge set in Sarathi Studio for the film and the filming of key scenes on NTR, Samantha and Mohanlal would be shot there. Nitya Menon would play the other heroine and the music is being composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
Will Chiru Campaign For The Congress?
A beleaguered congress party is looking for a star campaigner in the GHMC polls and there are indications that Chiranjeevi’s services might be enlisted for this purpose. Telangana PCC President, Uttam Kumar Reddy indicated as much when he said that national leaders of the Congress including Rajya Sabha member Chiru, would be approached to garner support for the Party. As a politician, Chiranjeevi has been a complete failure to date. But his star power might help Congress bag a couple of seats at least in constituencies where the Seemandhras are in significant numbers.
But of late, Chiru has not been actively associating himself with any activities of the Congress in AP. So, will he now get back to active politics and help out the Congress in Telangana or would he just prefer to ride out the rest of his term as Rajya Sabha MP? The Congress lost out on a golden opportunity when they allowed KCR to walk away with the entire credit for the formation of Telangana.
Although there is no negativity against the Congress in Telangana, for want of a charismatic leader, there is no positivity towards it either. People are just indifferent to it! Chiru’s campaigning might just be the shot-in-the arm, the party is looking for. And the irony of it all would not be lost on anyone either. An Andhra film star helping the Congress come to power in Telangana!
Katrina, Ranbir Have Split?
It’s over! Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are no longer together! One of the Bollywood’s most talked about couples has called it quits. While there is no official word from either side yet, the buzz is that Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s ‘ajab prem ki ghazab kahani’ has come to an end. There is also talk that the industry’s perennial Prem and Katrina’s ex-boyfriend, Salman Khan, may have something to do with the split.
At the centre of the estrangement, sources said, was a meeting Katrina had with Salman on January 9 at a suburban studio. The two spent two hours chatting. That was the day when Katrina and Ranbir stopped shooting for Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos. While the schedule is still on, neither actor has been seen on the sets in the last six days. Katrina has already moved out of the couple’s plush sea-facing duplex at Bandra and Ranbir has moved back with his parents.
Word is that the two might reconsider getting back together but the chances are very bleak right now! No wonder Katrina had earlier quoted, “My greatest fear is that if and when I get married and I am standing at the altar or the mandap, he (Ranbir) may not love me completely. That he may not know his mind well enough to be making those commitments. The anticipation of heartbreak is my only fear.”
It can be noted that their kissing picture which went viral too was one sort of a publicity gimmick! But the truth remains! Ranbir has moved out of his Bandra love nest and is already with his family at a new apartment! As far as Katrina is concerned, let’s see what destiny holds for her!
