These are the days of award-wapsi, where many scholars want to return their awards for the growing religious intolerance in the society. Eminent literary personalities and then some cinema stalwarts are getting ready to return their awards as their protest against Modi government in particular.

As most recently noted poet and lyricist Gulzar to returned his Sahitya Academy Award, various cinema personalities are made to respond on this. In a candid interview, veteran Kamal Haasan said, “In recognition of the work done by creative people, jury will award these cinema celebs.

It has nothing to do with government. So I’ll not return my award”. Speaking on the same issue, Bollywood’s King Khan, Shahrukh Khan expressed a different view. “Symbolically I would say yes, I’ll return my award.

But I’ve not won any National Award for acting to return”, says SRK. Maybe SRK will returns something give by the Government, but not those Filmfare, IIFA and Stardust awards.

Reacting to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s comments on intolerance in India, Sadhvi Prachi has dubbed SRK as ‘Pakistan Agent’. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sadhvi also suggested that Shah Rukh should move to Pakistan.

“By talking about returning the awards (including Padma Shri) he has committed treason. He should be punished for this. Not only Shah Rukh Khan, but all those who have returned their awards should be tried for treason,” Sadhvi was quoted as saying.

Earlier SRK said in a TV channel interview that there is ‘extreme intolerance’ in India. He also stated that he is ready to surrender his Padma Shri award.

This is not first time, Sadhvi made such controversial remarks against SRK. In March this year, Sadhvi had made controversial comment by saying that Hindus should boycott movies starring Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, as they promote love jihad. Her latest remarks against SRK have triggered a row.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s much discussed comeback film has been a point of several intense discussions and rumors ever since Chiru expressed his wish to return to the silver screen. After a series of brainstorming sessions in the Mega family, director Puri Jagannadh was chosen to helm the prestigious project, only to be ousted within a couple of months.

During the audio launch of Subramanyam for Sale, Chiru even gave an open offer to all the present day filmmakers and story writers to come up with a solid story and grab the chance to direct him. That aside, director VV Vinayak was lately confirmed unofficially to direct Chiru in the Telugu remake of Kaththi.

Even Ram Charan, in the promotional interviews for Bruce Lee, said that an official announcement about Chiru’s comeback film will be made before Dasara. Now, it’s been nearly 2 weeks since Dasara festival was over and there has been no news from the Mega camp yet.

When probed, we learnt that Charan made those statements as the Mega camp thought that Akhil would release on Dasara and that they will announce the Chiru-Vinayak combo after looking at Akhil’s box-office result. Apparently, Mega family is on a backtrack post Bruce Lee’s disaster. So, Mega fans can only expect some announcement after Akhil releases on Diwali.

Anushka now has one major film on hand and that is Baahubali 2. Apart from that, she barely has any film on hand and that has led to some industry insiders feeling that she has become the ‘Vijayashanti’ of today’s generation.Of late, she has been doing heroine-oriented roles and the industry is full of younger heroes. Also, since she has a rather large frame, not all heroes can be paired with her.

So, she is having trouble finding films these days. Unless some writer or director creates a special role for her, she will have a tough time feel some industry insiders. However, unlike Vijayashanti, Anushka has the advantage of working in both Tamil and Telugu. Already, she is doing Size Zero, which is a bi-lingual that stars Tamil Arya. And he is not a small hero in Tamil.

The film has come up really well, at least from the way promos look and she looks really chubby and cheerful. Also, unlike the time when Vijayashanti reached the fag end of her career, today the audiences are more tolerant to ageing heroines and the new-age film-makers too are experimenting with scripts.

While staying or quitting industry is Anushka’s personal choice, she might find roles suiting her age just like Vidya Balan, Kajol and Aishwarya Rai are managing in Bollywood. In fact, Anushka was also seen in the Tamil version of Enthavaadu Gaani which had Tamil superstar Ajith in the lead and in Linga which had south Indian superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. Since times have changed, she might do some more interesting films before she calls it a day.

Rakul has been quite busy these days and irrespective of whether her films are hits or failures, she is being signed opposite big heroes.Of course, she hasn’t come till Mahesh Babu as yet, but she has a film each with Allu Arjun and NTR. And the girl has been doing everything to catch the attention of Mahesh, though nothing has come up as yet.

Meanwhile, Gopichand Malineni is said to have approached her for a film with Varun Tej.

Talk is that the film will be set in a sports backdrop and Rakul will be playing the main lead. Talk is that Rakul hasn’t given her nod as yet.

However, since she has already worked with the director, it is being said that she might accept the film. But her wait for Mahesh continues.

Nagarjuna has finally announced that his son Akhil’s debut film, Akhil, will release on Diwali, November 11. The film was supposed to release on Dasara, October 22, but was postponed due to technical problems.Talking about the reason behind the late release of his son Akhil’s much-awaited debut film, Nagarjuna says, “Akhil’s film got postponed only because the special effects were not ready. We didn’t want to rush it. Why should we? What’s the hurry? If a postponement by a few weeks can enhance the VFX in Akhil we were all for it.”

The superstar adds that it’s quality and not speed that’s essential for his son’s debut.

“Akhil is young. He has all the time in the world. We want his debut to be special.”

“Rajamouli’s Baahubali and Eega were delayed by more than a year. They worked hard on making the special effects really special. Akhil’s film should be a polished product. Fans who are waiting to see him should not be disappointed.”
