Kick 2 Misses Great Opportunity

untitled

Raviteja, Surender’s Kick sequel is undoubtedly one of the most awaited movies of the season. The film’s trailer has already crossed one million views on Youtube, proving the interest levels of audience in it.

Even the songs are climbing up the charts. Kick was a huge hit both in theaters and on TV and it is no wonder that the sequel is grabbing eyeballs already. This film should have been out by now to make the most of the expectations and hype surrounding it.

Summer would have been perfect time for a movie like Kick 2 to click big time. However the makers didn’t get the release timing right as the movie’s release is now pushed to June 12th. By then schools will be reopened and there won’t be any holiday advantage to cash in on.

In fact Telugu Cinema has wasted this summer as there were only a few biggies that have made it to the theaters. There isn’t a single summer blockbuster this year even when the audiences have shown their loyalty towards film entertainment by giving bumper openings to any biggie that hit the screens this season.

Chiranjeevi Gets Questioned Once Again

Share

In movies, when you like a dialogue or a song, the audiences shout once more. Looks like in real life too, Chiranjeevi’s political followers have decided to take on the megastar time and again.

In a country where the politicians are rarely questioned, the megastar is being questioned time and again, landing him in embarrassing situations time and again.

Well, usually a politician gets away with everything till elections. Only then the voters decide to take their revenge on an erring politician by voting him out of power. However, till then he continues without any or little opposition.

So, coming back to the megastar, he was questioned once in Uttarandhra. At the time he was touring the region and a man stopped him and asked him as to why he merged the Praja Rajyam party and even tore the membership card of PR party right in front of him.

Then, during 2014 elections, he was once again questioned by a person standing in the queue for violating the norms and trying to cast his vote.

Looks like the saga is continuing… a person has once again questioned Chiranjeevi. He asked Chiranjeevi to list out his contributions as an MLA. Well, looks like mega fans are not leaving any ophportunity to question the leader they had once banked on.

However, looks like Chiranjeevi himself is least disturbed by such incidents.

Starry End To KKR Match

Mumbai: Though defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lost their match against Rajasthan Royals, Bollywood superstar and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan had some moments of joy in the stands where he was joined by his youngest son AbRam and actors Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma.

The 49-year-old took to Twitter to thank them for supporting his team.

“Well tried KKR. Awesome display Rajasthan Royals. Absolutely deserving winners!!! And the best hospitality in any arena CCI…thank u so much,” Shah Rukh tweeted on Saturday night.

In another post, he added: “& thank you Varun Dhawan…Kriti and Varun for turning up and supporting the team. Lov u & sorry couldn’t give you more reason to cheer.

“On behalf of KKR i promise to Kolkata, v will try harder to make you proud. Monsoon or Math is not the Mard thing to do…next yr. Insha Allah.”

The “Chennai Express” star also posted a black and white photograph of him and AbRam, where the two are seen staring at each other. In the caption, Shah Rukh wrote a conversation between the two.

“He: We Won? Me: No Son. He: Why Papa? Me: Wat Son,” he wrote.

However, this was not AbRam’s first appearance on a cricket field as he was also present at the KKR’s opening match of eight edition of Indian Premier League last month.

Delayed release impacts ‘Uttama Villain’ at box office

Chennai: Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan-starrer Tamil period-drama “Uttama Villain” has failed to create ripples at the box office due to its delayed release, says a trade pundit.

“Two weeks since its release, the film is yet to break even. The reason for poor show at the box office is the delayed release. Had the film released as initially planned on May 1, it would’ve opened to record collections,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

Ramesh Aravind-directed “Uttama Villain”, which was a highly anticipated release, was to hit the screens on May 1 worldwide.

Due to some financial issues between the film’s makers and financiers, the release of the movie was stalled on first day. It released on May 2.

“Big budget star vehicles rely heavily on the collections of the opening weekend. For ‘Uttama Villain’, an opening day collection of nearly Rs.10 crore was expected going by the pre-release buzz. But since the release got delayed, the numbers were affected,” he said.

The film is said to be loosely inspired by several events in Kamal’s life. It narrates the story of a superstar on the brink of extinction.

While the film was received well by the multiplex audiences, it was welcomed to lukewarm response in B and C centres due to its semi auto-biographical narrative tone.

Trinath says Aishwarya Dhanush-directed Tamil film “Vai Raja Vai”, which released along with “Uttama Villain”, ate into the business of the latter due to its delayed release.

“People who had come to the cinemas to watch Kamal’s film on the first day ended up watching ‘Vai Raja Vai’. Even the screens that were originally booked for ‘Uttama Villain’ had to screen Aishwarya’s film to accommodate the crowd,” Trinath said.

“Due to the delayed release of Kamal’s film, ‘Vai Raja Vai’ collected a whopping Rs.3.3 crore on the first day in Tamil Nadu. It was a small film and was received reasonably well by the audience,” he added.

Kamal has already moved on to his next Tamil-Telugu bilingual film titled “Thoongaavanam”, which is set to go on floors on May 24 in Hyderabad.
