Roja Lashes Out At Ganta

YSRCP MLA Roja has lashed out at Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

She said that Ganta was not showing the same interest towards discharging his obligations as a Minister as he was showing towards attending audio functions and film launches.

When a student of Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur committed suicide due to ragging, the Minister did not even bother to inquire into what happened and the result was that the University had to be shut down for ten days due to protests.

Giving ten days holidays to the ANU was only to cover up the crime and the State not responding in the measure the situation demands clearly shows that it wants to shield the perpetrators of the crime, she said adding that the indifference of Chief Minister and concerned minister only shows that they are not inclined for justice to prevail.

The incident merits a strong action against the principal and the perpetrators of the crime and if the state fails on this count this menace will spread like virus.

The High Court should take up the case suo motu to infuse confidence among the girl student, and people have lost faith in the inquiries being set up by the State, in spite of the suicide note which clearly mentions the reasons for her suicide and the people who have harassed her, she said.

She termed it a colossal failure of the Minister. Incidentally, Ganta has always been close to the Tollywood fraternity and his son is all set to be launched as a hero soon.

With Parliament repeatedly being stalled by the Opposition seeking Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje’s resignations in the Lalit Modi issue, there is the possibility of important Bills such as the ‘Land Acquisition Bill’ etc not coming up for discussion.

In such a situation, the government would once again have to go for an ordinance but this will not reflect well on it.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Venkayya Naidu is now in a quandary as to how to get Parliament functioning normally again.

He has reportedly sought the help of TDP MP Sujana Chowdary in trying to win over some of the Opposition and get them to assist the business of the House.

Needless to say, Sujana will get his due reward if he is successful in this endeavor.

Tollywood Is Really Unfortunate To Have Missed A Good Script

When Vijayendra Prasad approached many in the Tollywood industry, his offer of an exemplary script was turned down.

The script was instantly taken by none other than the Superstar of Bollywood Salman Khan and the movie went on to become Bajrangi Bhaijan.

The reasons could be innumerate. From being a relegated character of the leading role, to cross-border script. Reason could anything, Tollywood could seamlessly afford to twist the script accordingly.

While our heroes always demand larger than life roles, the Bollywood heroes are taking it easy.

After looking at Bajrangi Bhaijan, there could be some oops moments in the TFI for missing on such a good storyline, even a remake wouldn’t substitute the freshness of a good movie. Really unfortunate guys!

New Delhi: India has seen the second-biggest outflow of high net worth individuals in last 14 years, with as many as 61,000 millionaires shifting base to abroad due to reasons like tax, security and child education, says a report.

A joint report by New World Wealth and LIO Global said the change in domicile, along with a rise in second citizenship applications, has increased dramatically since the turn of the century. Some 61,000 uber-rich Indians have changed domicile between 2000 to 2014 — second only to China which saw an outflow of 91,000 ultra-rich persons in the same period, the report said.

“Indian HNWIs tend to move to the UAE, the UK, the US and Australia,” the report said, adding that Chinese HNWIs mainly moved to the US, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UK. Overall, the UK has seen the biggest inflow of HNWIs from abroad and the figure stood at 1.25 lakh over the past 14 years.

Other countries that saw significant HNWI outflows include France (42,000), Italy (23,000), Russia (20,000), Indonesia (12,000), South Africa (8,000) and Egypt (7,000). The factors of the outflow, according to the report, include turmoil in home country, security concerns and optimising education of children.

Most of the HNWIs who moved into the UK came from Europe, Russia, China and India. There were also substantial numbers that came from the Middle-East and Africa, the report added. In terms of inflows of HNWIs, the UK was followed by the US and Singapore. Inflows into the US predominantly came from China while the UK, India and Russia made up for a sizeable chunk.

Most migration to Singapore came from China, India and Indonesia. This survey was conducted comparing the domicile of a sample of around 60,000 global HNWIs in 2000 with the same in 2014. HNWIs refer to individuals with net assets of USD 1 million or more excluding their primary residences. (PTI)
