This morning, more than 500 Indian celebrities from the film, politics, business and other fields were in for a huge shock when their names were splashed on the infamous Panama Papers scandal.
Noted Indian personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, his daughter-in-law and Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai, Apollo Tyres promoter, Indiabulls promoter Sameer Gehlaut and DLF’s head honcho KP Singh etc found their names involved in the list of tax evaders.
A lot of hue and cry has been made by the media and fans of the Bachchans were highly anxious. Quickly reacting to the tax evasion and black money reports, Aishwarya Rai’s spokesperson issued a statement where Aishwarya refuted the allegations of hidden offshore dealings.
Aish clarified in her statement that she has no black money in the list of fraudulent companies mentioned in the leaked files. Aishwarya’s father-in-law and the legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is yet to make his statement on his involvement.
More than 11 million documents from the secret files of the renowned Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonesca also being referred to as Panama Papers were leaked by a German media firm. Mossack Fonesca has its branches in more than 40 countries.
The leakage revealed the hidden offshore dealings of several global celebrities such as the Russian president Vladimir Putin, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping etc.
