Pawan Kalyan Clarifies Stance on Hindi Language Debate

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s fiery speech at the Pithapuram public meeting has sparked widespread debate, particularly over his remarks on the opposition to Hindi by certain Tamil Nadu politicians.

Expressing his views, Kalyan stated, “I do not understand why some criticize Sanskrit. Why do Tamil Nadu politicians oppose Hindi while allowing their movies to be dubbed in Hindi for financial gain? They want money from Bollywood but refuse to accept Hindi—what kind of logic is that?”

His statement triggered a storm, with certain Tamil-affiliated groups accusing him of endorsing Hindi imposition as part of the NDA’s ideological stance. To counter him, an old speech of Kalyan, where he had opposed the compulsory imposition of Hindi, was widely circulated to create a contradictory narrative.

However, Pawan Kalyan has now responded with a strong clarification, putting an end to speculations.

“Either forcibly imposing a language or blindly opposing one does not contribute to the national and cultural integration of Bharat. I have never opposed Hindi as a language; I only opposed making it compulsory. The NEP 2020 itself does not mandate Hindi, so spreading false narratives about its imposition is nothing but an attempt to mislead the public.”

He further elaborated on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, stating that it provides students with the flexibility to learn any two Indian languages, including their mother tongue, along with a foreign language. “If students do not wish to study Hindi, they have the option to learn any other Indian language of their choice,” he added.

With this clarification, Pawan Kalyan has reaffirmed his stance, advocating for linguistic freedom while rejecting both imposition and unwarranted opposition to any language.
