Since taking charge as Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan has devoted most of his time to political duties. As a result, his highly anticipated films, including Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part 1 and OG, have faced significant delays. Meanwhile, his projects Ustaad Bhagat Singh with Harish Shankar and an untitled film with Surender Reddy are rumored to have been shelved.
In a recent interview with a Tamil news channel, Pawan Kalyan addressed his future in cinema. When asked if his fans could expect to see him continue acting alongside his political career, he responded, “As long as I need money, I will continue to act in movies, without compromising on my administrative and political responsibilities.”
Pawan had previously announced his retirement from films after Agnyaathavaasi (2018) to focus on his political aspirations ahead of the 2019 elections. However, after his party Janasena suffered a disappointing debut in the AP Assembly elections, he made a comeback in 2021 with the Pink remake, Vakeel Saab. Addressing criticism over his return to films, he had previously stated that he needed funds to support his party and sustain his political movement in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
Despite his busy schedule, Pawan Kalyan went on to star in Bheemla Nayak and Bro, while Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part 1 and OG await completion. His latest remarks on continuing in films have sparked mixed reactions. While his loyal fans support his decision, critics and opposition supporters are questioning his commitment to his earlier promise of leaving cinema after assuming office.
