Surveys have long been a key instrument in the Telugu Desam Party’s strategy to gauge the effectiveness of its MLAs and ministers. In a similar vein, the Jana Sena Party, led by its chief Pawan Kalyan—an ally of the TDP—has recently demonstrated a growing interest in conducting internal assessments.
Reports indicate that a comprehensive performance survey of Jana Sena’s MLAs was recently commissioned through a reputed survey agency. The results of this evaluation, which cover the past year of legislative activity, are said to be in the direct possession of Pawan Kalyan.
Sources familiar with the matter suggest that the findings have not been uniformly favorable. Several MLAs have reportedly received negative feedback from their constituencies, with some cases highlighting serious allegations such as corruption and misuse of authority. The report allegedly details instances of involvement in illicit activities including sand and liquor trade, along with other localized irregularities.
Amidst this backdrop, it is widely speculated that Pawan Kalyan intends to convene a critical review meeting with his MLAs in June, coinciding with the completion of one year of the alliance government. During this session, it is expected that the survey results will be disclosed directly to the legislators.
This development has reportedly created considerable unease among Jana Sena’s legislative members, who remain uncertain about their individual standings in the confidential report. With the leadership alone privy to the sealed survey findings, speculation continues to grow regarding the performance of individual MLAs.
In Uttarandhra, for instance, the Jana Sena party fields five MLAs spanning both senior and junior ranks. While many maintain confidence in their public image and constituency work, the ambiguity surrounding the survey results has contributed to an atmosphere of tension within the party’s legislative ranks.
As the party prepares for the impending review, all eyes will be on Pawan Kalyan’s leadership approach and how the survey outcomes will shape the party’s internal dynamics moving forward.
