Pawan Kalyan’s Kumbh Mela Visit Sparks Social Media Controversy

Share

Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan Kalyan, recently visited Prayagraj to take part in the Maha Kumbh Mela, where he took a holy dip in the Ganga River following tradition. However, what should have been a moment of spiritual significance was unfortunately turned into a topic of ridicule on social media.

As per custom, Kalyan removed his shirt before taking the dip, but certain political groups used these images to launch a body-shaming campaign against him on Twitter. Several offensive comments were made about his fitness and physique, with some even resorting to morphing his pictures in an attempt to humiliate him.

However, this malicious social media narrative is now being countered, as Andhra Pradesh Police is preparing to take strict action against those responsible. Supporters of Janasena from Chittoor, Nellore, Bapatla, and Vijayawada have filed complaints with local police, submitting evidence of the morphed images and requesting legal action.

Considering that the Deputy CM himself has been targeted, law enforcement is expected to deal harshly with those spreading defamatory content. Both Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan have already issued stern warnings against social media misuse, with past offenders, particularly YSRCP supporters, having faced legal consequences.

Despite these warnings, the controversy reignited following Kalyan’s participation in the Maha Kumbh Mela. Now, with the police stepping in, it remains to be seen what disciplinary measures will be taken against those involved in this malicious online attack.
