Please Call Me Before Suicide: Actor Tells Farmers

Legendary Bollywood actor Nana Patekar, who was seen in several popular hits like RGV’s 26/11, Ab Tak Chappan, Housefull series etc, has extended financial assistance to the families of farmers who committed suicides in several regions of Maharashtra. In August alone, Nana personally gave Rs 15,000 each to families of 62 farmers from Vidarbha region.

Nana and another Marathi actor Makarand Anaspure were moved by the sorrows of the debt-ridden farmers who have been going intense stress. Extending psychological assistance apart from the monetary help, Nana appealed to the farmers not to commit suicides and also requested them to first call him if they ever consider suicide to end their woes.

Nana is constantly in a personal contact with the families and even the distressed farmers. The actor is also in talks with the state government to implement the necessary measures to curb suicides. “If we can’t provide farmers their basic right of electricity and water even after 69 years of Independence, they will kill themselves and one day they might kill you,” says a worried Nana.
