Yami Gautam Clarifies After Liking Viral Kriti Sanon Reel

At a recent award function, Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon won the Best Actress award for her performance in Tere Ishq Mein. However, fans who watched Haq on Netflix felt that Yami Gautam was a stronger contender for the honor. An Instagram reel highlighting this opinion, which criticized Kriti, soon went viral.
What caught everyone’s attention was that Yami Gautam herself had liked the reel, sparking speculation that she was upset with the awards committee. Media outlets quickly picked up the story, suggesting that Yami might be expressing her disagreement with the decision.
Clarifying the situation, Yami explained that she had liked the reel accidentally and was not consciously aware of it. The Article 370 actress emphasized that she does not have a PR team and does not indulge in publicity stunts. She reaffirmed her earlier stance that Bollywood awards can be biased and hand-managed, and that she prefers letting her work speak for itself.
Yami Gautam’s full statement read:
“It has come to my notice that I apparently ‘liked’ a reel that is condescending toward another actor. We get tagged in multiple things every day, and this appeared during an award-function reference like any other tag. It isn’t true and was definitely not done consciously; if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally. Never in my life have I resorted to cheap PR tactics. I have always focused on my work and moved on. In the world of clickbait, it’s tempting for even dignified social media portals to harp on this and turn it into coffee-table gossip. But I would hope they would consider that I have earned a better reputation than that.”
