Following the blockbuster success of Mahavatar Narasimha, producer Naga Vamsi announced an ambitious animation project titled Vayuputra, to be directed by Chandoo Mondeti. The film generated strong buzz initially, but the latest updates suggest that it has now been put on hold.

Sources reveal that the script shaped up quite well, and the team even began pre-production with plans to mount the film on a grand scale. The makers intended to use advanced technologies like animatronics and motion capture to bring the vision to life. However, the major hurdle turned out to be the high production cost.

Reports indicate that the technology alone would require nearly ₹38 crore, while additional expenses like cast remunerations, music, and post-production could push the total budget to around ₹50–55 crore or even higher.

Although Sithara Entertainments shares a strong association with Netflix, the OTT giant was reportedly not willing to offer more than ₹15–20 crore for the film. This created a significant financial gap, leaving heavy reliance on theatrical returns.

Given the current uncertain market conditions, Naga Vamsi is said to be cautious about taking such a big risk. As a result, the project has been paused for now. However, there is no official confirmation yet from the makers about shelving Vayuputra, and its future remains uncertain.
