People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India’s new petition calling on the government to uphold the ban on Jallikattu (a bull-taming sport of Tamil Nadu) has been signed by top film and cricket stars, including Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shilpa Shetty, Kapil Sharma, Amy Jackson, Vidya Balan, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan etc.
Actress Amy Jackson posted a tweet in support of PETA’s disagreement over Jallikattu and has faced ire of political outfits in Tamil Nadu. ‘#NoJallikattu : Actors, cricketers sign @PetaIndia’s plea against bullfights. Please show your support too!’ posted Amy on micro-blogging site.
A political outfit called Tamil Munnetra Padai protested against Amy Jackson at Thyagaraya Nagar in Chennai, for voicing against Jallikattu. They burnt posters of Amy Jackson and demanded the removal of the actress from Superstar Rajinikanth’s much awaited flick Robo 2.0. The political outfit also demanded to ban Amy from Tamil films.
Amy Jackson became most sought after actresses in Kollywood after Shankar directed ‘I’. The starlet who was last seen in Thanga Magan (Nava Manmadhudu in Telugu), is currently starring in three high-budgeted Tamil movies, including Rajinikanth’s Robo 2.0.
Now, Amy has invited troubles by expressing her views against the traditional sport of Tamil Nadu- Jallikattu. Let’s see whether Kollywood supports the actress or not!
