Actress Pooja Hegde initially began her career in Bollywood before making a successful transition to Telugu cinema. While she faced initial struggles in establishing herself, her fortunes changed with the release of Duvvada Jagannatham, which marked the beginning of her rise as one of the top commercial heroines in Tollywood.
However, Pooja revealed that her journey in the industry has not been smooth, as she had to navigate through negative campaigning and PR-driven narratives. She shared that while directors often craft stories keeping leading male actors in mind, substantial roles for heroines are rarely prioritized. This results in fierce competition among actresses for meaningful, author-backed roles.
She further exposed a darker side of the industry, stating that certain actresses resort to negative PR campaigns to tarnish their counterparts’ reputations. Pooja was taken aback when she and her team discovered that lakhs of rupees were spent on organized negative publicity against her by certain PR agencies. She emphasized that this is an unfortunate reality many actresses face, though it often goes unnoticed by the public. She hinted that the occasional memes and unfavorable articles about certain actresses could be a direct outcome of such targeted smear campaigns.
