There are fears being expressed that the newly formed Telangana will be severely lacking power capacity and will also fall short of funds is now having its slow effect. This is just a tip of the iceberg of various issues that Telangana state will face if it forms.
Notwithstanding the euphoria over possible Telangana statehood, now there are reports that various farmer groups in Telangana have started demanding what will be the solution for this. Till now CM Kiran has been saying this and now even Jaipal Reddy admitted to this fact!
Once Telangana is created, the power demand is expected to be 8000 MW while production will be around 4500 MW and at the same time most irrigation projects in the region including Pranahitha Chevella are all lift irrigation schemes which means heavy power is needed to lift the water and transfer them into canals.
For an installed capacity to meet the current shortfall and future requirements, Telangana will require atleast 60,000 crores of immediate investment so that atleast after four years there may be no much shortage. But who will give so many funds and where will they find them and who will complete it in four years?
