Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly set to play a cop in Jailer 2, the highly anticipated action entertainer starring Rajinikanth.

According to industry sources, only Shah Rukh Khan’s portions remain to be shot. He is expected to begin filming in March, with his sequences scheduled over seven to eight days. The actor’s role is said to be an extended cameo, and now it is confirmed that he will portray a police officer in the film.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 has generated massive excitement among fans and film enthusiasts. One of the key reasons for this anticipation is that the film promises the same high-octane action and entertainment as the first installment, which emerged as a blockbuster, grossing a staggering ₹650 crores worldwide.

The first Jailer opened to positive reviews and recorded a record-breaking start. Its overseas distributor, Ayngaran International, reported that the film earned ₹33 crores on its very first day—the highest opening in Superstar Rajinikanth’s career.

The shooting of Jailer 2 commenced on March 10 last year in Chennai, as announced by the production house Sun Pictures. Interest in the film peaked after the release of an intriguing teaser that combined humor and thrills.

Actress Ramya Krishnan, who plays Vijaya Pandian (Viji), the wife of Rajinikanth’s character Muthuvel Pandian, shared a story marking her first day of shooting in Attappadi, Kerala, celebrating 26 years since Padayappa.

Other key cast members include actress Mirnaa, portraying Swetha Pandian, Rajinikanth’s daughter-in-law, along with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, who have also completed their portions.

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander, whose score played a crucial role in the success of the first part, is returning to compose the soundtrack for Jailer 2.

With Shah Rukh Khan joining the ensemble and a high-octane action premise, Jailer 2 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited films of the year.
