The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned actor Prakash Raj in connection with an investigation into the alleged promotion of illegal online betting applications. The case involves 29 celebrities, including Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Rana Daggubati, who are accused of endorsing betting platforms that reportedly misled users and may have links to money laundering.
Prakash Raj appeared before the ED on July 30, 2025, while other actors have been issued separate dates for questioning. The investigation stems from five FIRs filed in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and is being pursued under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the Public Gambling Act of 1867.
Speaking about the matter, Prakash Raj clarified that he had signed a contract in 2017 to promote one such app but chose not to renew it after realizing its nature, stating that he distanced himself from it since then.
