Preity Mukundhan, who rose to fame with Sai Abhyankar’s “Aasai Kooda” song, and also featured in the film Star alongside Kavin, was later cast in Kannappa after Nupur Sanon exited the project. She portrayed the role of Nemali. However, despite playing a prominent character, Preity was notably absent from all promotional events of the film, raising questions about her relationship with the film’s team.
Interestingly, Preity recently shared a heartfelt note on social media, reflecting on her journey with the character and the challenges she faced while filming. But what truly caught everyone’s attention was that she never mentioned the film’s name — Kannappa, nor did she acknowledge the lead actor Manchu Vishnu or the production team.
In her emotional post, Preity wrote:
“There are times in life when words feel both inadequate and essential — when love surrounds you so unexpectedly. These last few days have been exactly that for me. To everyone who has sent love, recognition, and warmth my way, you have no idea how happy your words have made me.”
She went on to describe the personal struggles she faced during the six-month shoot:
“I lived and breathed as this character, struggling to learn my craft and cope with the physical intensity I had to endure. To know this has reached all of you makes every sleepless night and every moment of doubt feel worthwhile.”
Preity also reminisced about being new to the industry:
“I was just two weeks old as an actor on sets and had the chance to stand alongside some of the most celebrated people in our industry. It’s been nothing short of extraordinary, especially while I was still learning to find my wings.”
Despite the heartfelt tone, Preity’s complete omission of the film’s name, its team, or any mention of her co-stars, has fueled ongoing rumors that all was not well behind the scenes. Speculations about her strained relationship with the production house had already surfaced before the film’s release, particularly after she skipped promotional events and her character was left out of major campaigns.
Now, her cryptic yet emotional post only adds more weight to the assumption that her experience might not have been entirely positive off-screen.
Kannappa, which released on June 27, opened to mixed reviews, with praise directed at Manchu Vishnu’s performance. However, with the film nearing the end of its theatrical run, Preity’s absence from the spotlight might soon fade from public memory — though not without leaving a few lingering questions.
