After being admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi couple of weeks ago, Suvra Mukherjee, wife of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, passed away at 10:51 am on Tuesday due to respiratory failure. The country’s first lady had been suffering from breathing and heart related ailments and she was being treated in the ICU of the Army Hospital.
On August 7th, Suvra Mukherjee collapsed suddenly at her residence and she was immediately rushed to the hospital. Her health started deteriorating and on 11th August, doctors declared that Suvra Mukherjee was in a critical condition.
Suvra and Pranab Mukherjee got married in 1957 and the couple is survived by their three children Sharmishta, Abhijit and Indrajit. Several leaders from India and even other countries like Bangladesh have expressed thier condolences to the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
