Recently, the issue of media ban involving two channels in Telangana region hogged even national headlines with the Telangana CM KCR’s threats of breaking neck and burying alive those who speak against Telangana. After this incident, the Press Council of India has appointed an investigating committee to look into this issue.
Sources say that after exhaustive consultations with various stakeholders, the committee had finalized its report. In this, it has reportedly mentioned that TS CM KCR is the force behind the ban by MSO’s. The report also mentions how the CM and DGP didn’t give them any appointment and mentioned that open support for the action by MSO’s from KCR is a direct indication.
It has hinted that ABN and TV 9 channels were banned with official support of the state government. Whether it is going to make any difference to KCR is known to all. But all this tends to create a collateral damage in the long run.
