Global icon Priyanka Chopra has made her mark not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. Now, she is stepping into Tollywood, starring alongside Mahesh Babu under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli. Choosing to work in a Telugu film over high-profile Bollywood projects highlights her commitment to the role and her respect for regional cinema. Photos from the film sets featuring Priyanka, Mahesh, and Rajamouli had previously gone viral, generating immense buzz among fans.
Recently, a throwback video of Priyanka discussing pay disparities in Bollywood resurfaced online. She revealed that in the early days, she often didn’t receive even 10% of the salary offered to her male co-stars. She also noted that equal pay compared to male leads was virtually unheard of. Highlighting the ongoing gender pay gap in the industry, Priyanka explained, “We work alongside male actors and still are not paid equally. Even if we ask for it, it’s rarely given. On set, we wait for hours while the hero decides when to shoot.”
Priyanka also shared that her skin tone was criticized early in her career, with producers favoring fairer actresses for leading roles. She said these challenges forced her to work harder than her peers, pushing her to prove herself. Moving to Hollywood, she finally received equal pay alongside her male co-stars, reflecting the progress she has helped bring to the industry.
Priyanka’s journey underscores not only her talent but also her resilience and determination to fight for equality in cinema worldwide.
