Hailed as India’s biggest motion picture, SS Rajamouli’s epic socio-fantasy film Baahubali also earned the recognition as India’s biggest box-office success by grossing more than 600 crores at the box-offices worldwide. The film also won critics’ applause in India and abroad and has also been premiering at several international film festivals.

However, even after winning international acclaim, Baahubali was not honored by our own Indian government.

While many thought that Baahubali’s selection in the Indian Panorama section in the just concluded International Film Festival of India in Goa organized by the union government is confirmed, Tollywood was in for a huge shock as the jury decided not to select Baahubali for IFFI Goa.

Deeply upset with this, several producers at the Telugu Film Producer’s Council have reportedly written a letter of dissent to the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arun Jaitely alleging that centre is neglecting Telugu Cinema.

However, the ministry has not responded to the producers’ complaint until now. In the past too, several Tollywood filmmakers alleged bias and regional prejudice against Telugu films by the central awards committees for national film awards.
