Former union minister Daggubati Purandeshwari must be repenting for being in the Bharatiya Janata Party, since she is forced to defend her bitter opponent Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Reacting to the agitations and rallies in Visakhapatnam on Thursday demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh, Purandeshwari had no option but to sing the tune of Naidu.
“The special package given by the Centre has all the benefits that could be accrued through special category status. Except the words special status, the package offers everything that the people of Andhra want. Let them come forward what injustice the Centre has done to the state, I will explain what the package has,” she said.
However, Purandeshwari could not hide her strong disliking towards the Telugu Desam Party.
“For some reason or the other, the BJP had to have an alliance with the TDP before 2014 elections. I cannot say how long it will continue. We will review our strategy about it before 2019 elections. Till such time, we have no option but to continue the alliance,” she said.
