Raashii Khanna Calls Out Bollywood’s Obsession with Remakes

At a time when several actresses transition from Tollywood to Bollywood and often become critical of their roots, Raashii Khanna stands apart. Despite being actively involved in Bollywood projects, Raashii hasn’t hesitated to call out the flaws within the Hindi film industry—a move that has sparked mixed reactions online.

In a recent interview, Raashii candidly spoke about the industry’s over-reliance on remakes. “Today, South films are readily available online in multiple languages. So when Bollywood remakes them, the magic is lost—it just doesn’t resonate the same way with audiences,” she remarked. She stressed that it’s time for Hindi filmmakers to break away from outdated formulas and adapt to evolving viewer preferences.

Highlighting the changing landscape, she added, “Audiences today crave originality and diversity, which OTT platforms are already delivering. It’s time for mainstream cinema to catch up.”

While her comments were direct, Raashii also brought in a balanced perspective, saying, “Good cinema goes beyond language. Emotions are universal—North or South. That said, there are differences in cultural traditions which shape storytelling styles.”

Known for her work across multiple languages, Raashii’s grounded perspective comes from firsthand experience. In an era where many celebrities opt for safe, diplomatic statements, her fearless honesty has earned both praise and criticism. With a packed schedule across industries, Raashii Khanna continues to prove that talent, authenticity, and courage to speak out can go hand-in-hand in today’s cinematic world.
