After a lot of dilly dallying, finally Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has joined the Twitter bandwagon. Ever since Rahul lost to it Narendra Modi in the 2014 general elections and Congress saw severe poll drubbing, Rahul had been contemplating to make his presence on social media and erase his old image of an “aloof” and “disinterested politician”. The sitting Lok Sabha MP from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh has joined Twitter and his handle is @OfficeOfRG. His Twitter account got over 26.5K followers till 2.45 PM on Thursday.
Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala corroborated that it is the official account of Rahul Gandhi’s office. However, Rahul’s account is yet to be verified and just mentions that it “is the official account of the Office of Rahul Gandhi”. The bio also mentions that he is a Member of Parliament and Vice President, Indian National Congress.
The first tweet of Rahul Gandhi’s account states that he will be kick starting a padyatra in Telangana on May 12 traveling a distance of 15km in Adilabad district covering five villages starting from Wadial village.
