Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli was among the distinguished guests at the recently launched World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025 (WAVES), held in Mumbai. Addressing a packed audience, the SSMB29 director spoke passionately about India’s deep-rooted and vibrant storytelling heritage.

“India has been a land of stories and storytellers for thousands of years,” Rajamouli noted, referencing the rich tales from the Puranas and Itihasas. “No country in the world comes close to the cultural and narrative wealth we possess.”

He highlighted India’s immense linguistic diversity and artistic expressions, stating, “With hundreds of languages and countless art forms, storytelling is deeply woven into the fabric of our civilization. It’s in our DNA.”

While celebrating India’s storytelling prowess, Rajamouli also addressed a crucial gap: the nation’s limited global media footprint compared to countries like the USA, South Korea, and China. “We have the power and potential,” he asserted. “All we need is the right launchpad. I hope WAVES can be that platform.”

The high-profile summit was attended by cinema legends including Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Nagarjuna, Shah Rukh Khan, and Akshay Kumar. Rising stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kartik Aaryan, Naga Chaitanya, and Sobhita Dhulipala also added glamour and energy to the prestigious event.
