Radhika Reveals Why Sarath Kumar Opposed Varalaxmi’s Acting Career Initially
Actor Radhika Sarathkumar recently shared a heartfelt and emotional memory about her daughter Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and husband Sarath Kumar. She revealed that Sarath Kumar was initially unhappy when Varalaxmi decided to pursue a career in acting.
Radhika spoke about this at the pre-release event of the film Saraswathi, which marks Varalaxmi’s debut as a director. The event was held ahead of the film’s release on March 6 and was attended by several film personalities, including director Nandini Reddy.
During her speech, Radhika mentioned that Sarath Kumar was especially happy that day. She recalled a touching moment at an airport where fans approached them with admiration. Some praised Radhika for her recent performance, others appreciated Sarath Kumar’s film, and one woman expressed that she was a huge fan of Varalaxmi. That particular comment, Radhika said, made Sarath Kumar feel immensely proud as a father.
Reflecting on the past, Radhika revealed that Sarath Kumar was strongly against Varalaxmi entering the film industry. When Varalaxmi first expressed her interest in acting, he opposed the decision and even informed producers not to consider his daughter for film roles. Varalaxmi later shared her disappointment with her mother.
Unsure how to handle the situation, Radhika once took Varalaxmi to meet Sarath Kumar on a film set while he was shooting a song. Upon seeing them, he quietly walked away to his caravan. However, over time, he gradually softened and eventually agreed to let Varalaxmi pursue acting.
Radhika also shared that after watching Varalaxmi’s debut film Poda Podi, she became confident that her daughter would grow into a strong performer. She advised Varalaxmi to focus more on Telugu cinema, a decision that later played a significant role in shaping her successful career.
