Rajamouli Debuts in Gaming with Death Stranding 2 Cameo

Ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who is currently immersed in pre-production for his next film with Mahesh Babu, is now making waves in an entirely new domain—video games. While promoting RRR during its Japan release, Rajamouli visited Tokyo, where he met legendary game designer Hideo Kojima. At the time, many assumed it was a casual meeting, but it turns out there was more brewing behind the scenes.

Rajamouli, along with his son SS Karthikeya, has made a special cameo appearance in Kojima’s highly anticipated video game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In early access gameplay footage circulating online, fans spotted characters named “The Adventurer” and “Adventurer’s Son,” modeled closely on the father-son duo. Their brief but notable appearance has gone viral, especially among gaming enthusiasts and Telugu cinema fans.

The global release of Death Stranding 2 is scheduled for June 26, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Ahead of its official launch, some lucky players gained early access and were quick to notice Rajamouli and Karthikeya’s digital avatars. The excitement on social media is palpable, with fans celebrating Rajamouli’s unexpected foray into gaming.

This collaboration stems from their 2022 meeting, where Rajamouli visited Kojima Productions and experienced a 360° screening of their latest tech setup. Kojima, known for blending cinematic storytelling with gaming—often casting top-tier Hollywood talent like Norman Reedus, Elle Fanning, and Léa Seydoux—appears to have extended a fun nod to his filmmaker friend with this cameo.

Though it’s a small appearance, it marks Rajamouli’s debut in the video game space and is a testament to his growing global influence beyond the realm of cinema.
