There’s still no official confirmation from SS Rajamouli and his team regarding the budget of his upcoming magnum opus GlobeTrotter. However, the filmmaker’s recent meeting with Kenyan officials has triggered massive national and international buzz.
A leading Kenyan daily reported that the film is being mounted on a staggering ₹1200 crore budget — a figure that has since been widely circulated by Indian media outlets.
To put things in perspective, Rajamouli’s two-part Baahubali franchise was made at around ₹500 crore, while the upcoming Allu Arjun–Atlee project is estimated at ₹700 crore. This raises the big question: Will Rajamouli truly push the bar to ₹1200 crore for GlobeTrotter?
The film’s producer KL Narayana, who last bankrolled NTR’s Rakhi (2006), has been away from film production for nearly two decades. However, he remains one of the wealthiest realtors in Hyderabad and Vijayawada, with extensive real estate ventures. While his financial strength is undeniable, the practicality of such an unprecedented budget — even for one part of the planned two-part saga — is still uncertain.
Currently, GlobeTrotter, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is being shot in Kenya, further fueling the global anticipation around this ambitious project.
