“Akhanda 2” was initially planned for a grand release on December 4th, with paid premieres in India and regular premieres in the USA. However, the film’s release was put on hold indefinitely due to unresolved financial clearances that led to a legal hurdle. Even after four days, there is still no clarity on the situation.

The team was expected to regroup on Monday, after the Madras High Court issued the final injunction copy, but there has been no progress. Although all distributors held a meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday, the discussions did not yield any conclusive outcome.

The core issue remains the repayment of large sums owed to multiple lenders. Despite continuous discussions involving Nizam distributor Dil Raju, Balakrishna’s relative Dr. Surendra, and others, no viable solution has emerged to overcome the financial crisis. As a result, the team was unable to announce a new release date on Monday as well.

In an attempt to ease the financial strain on the producers, Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu have reportedly agreed to compromise on their remunerations. They were not paid their full dues and agreed to forgo the remaining amounts to help reduce the burden.

However, the overall liabilities—including the dues tied to Eros International, which filed the case in the Madras High Court—now exceed ₹60 crore, making the situation even more complicated and delaying the film’s release further.
