The track “Power House” from Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie has become one of the hottest chartbusters in Indian cinema. Composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the song went viral within minutes of its release last week, instantly amping up the hype for the film. Fans are eagerly waiting to watch its video version on the big screen when Coolie releases on August 14.
However, things took an unexpected turn when the makers recently released the Telugu version of the song. Unlike the Tamil version, which became an instant favorite even among Telugu audiences, the dubbed Telugu version has faced a wave of criticism.
Listeners have been particularly disappointed with the Telugu lyrics, which many feel lack the punch and intensity of the original. The powerful vibe that made the Tamil song so addictive seems to be missing in the translation. As a result, Telugu fans are openly requesting the production team to retain the original Tamil version in the Telugu release of the film.
This isn’t an isolated case either. Similar backlash was witnessed earlier for the Telugu versions of songs from Master and Leo. Fans are urging Tamil filmmakers to pay the same attention to Telugu lyrics and dubbing as they do for Tamil, warning that ignoring this could continue to alienate Telugu audiences in the future.
