Rajiv Kanakala’s mother, veteran thespian, Lakshmi Devi Kanakala, who trained the likes of super stars Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Rajendra Prasad, has breathed her last today (Feb 3, 2018) in Hyderabad due to age-related illness. She is survived by husband Devadas Kanakala, son Rajiv Kanakala, daughter-in-law Suma, daughter Sri Lakshmi, son-in-law Ramarao and grand children.
She had also acted in a few films. She was noted for her role in Prema Bandham where she acted as Jaya Prada’s mother. In Police Lockup, she was seen as mother-in-law to Vijaya Shanti. She also acted as mother to Rajendra Prasad in Kobbari Bondam. She acted in brief roles in Mashtari Kapuram and Oka Vuri Katha.
While her husband Devadas is a popular actor in films, TV serials, her son Rajiv is well-known actor in films, and daughter-in-law Suma is very famous anchor. Lakshmi Devi’s daughter Sri Lakshmi Kanakala is a TV serial actor and son-in-law Peddi Ramarao is a theatre artiste.Tollywood fraternity expressed condolences to Kanakala family. Since Jr NTR and several other actors, directors and technicians are close to the family, many are expected to visit the bereaved family and condole the family members.
