In the film industry, it’s often said that once Ram Charan places his trust in a director and their script, he gives them full creative freedom without interfering in the production or shooting process. That seems to be the case with his upcoming film Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana.
Interestingly, the same sports drama script was initially developed for NTR, and the director worked on it for nearly a year with the star. Despite several rounds of revisions and creative discussions, the project didn’t take off, as NTR ultimately decided to walk away from it.
However, things took a different turn when Buchi Babu approached Ram Charan with the same script. Charan was reportedly convinced almost immediately, showing a deep sense of confidence in both the story and the filmmaker. What didn’t work for NTR turned out to be a perfect fit for Charan, who was quick to green-light the project.
Sources say NTR wasn’t particularly keen on doing a sports drama at this point in his career, which was one of the primary reasons for stepping back. On the other hand, Ram Charan, known for his openness to experimental and contemporary storytelling, embraced the subject enthusiastically.
The first teaser glimpse of Peddi has already been released, offering audiences a taste of what’s to come. With a theatrical release planned for next March, all eyes will be on whether Ram Charan made the right call or if NTR passed on what could’ve been a major opportunity. Either way, Peddi is shaping up to be a film that will spark plenty of discussion upon release.
