Ram Charan’s Powerful Message on World Drug Day

On World Drug Day, observed annually on June 26, the Telangana Government hosted a powerful awareness event in Hyderabad as part of the Rising Telangana initiative. The gathering saw participation from prominent leaders like Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, police officials, and celebrities including Ram Charan.

Sharing a heartfelt childhood memory, Ram Charan recalled, “I remember buying popsicles outside my school. That was a place of joy and innocence. Today, those same spots have unfortunately become places where children, often unknowingly, come into contact with drugs.”

He referred to the public outcry in 2015 that first highlighted this issue. “That was a wake-up call,” Charan said. “And as a parent who homeschools my child today, I never thought I’d have to worry about this so deeply. The need for a day like this is heartbreaking but important.”

Charan went on to stress what true happiness looks like. “The real high is succeeding at work or school, spending time with family, or playing with friends. That’s what we should encourage,” he added.

The event also spotlighted the strong measures taken by Telangana’s police and administration to prevent the spread of drugs in schools and public spaces.

“Let’s protect our families, our friends, our schools,” Charan urged. “This fight belongs to all of us—it’s not just the government’s responsibility.” He ended his speech with a powerful call to action: “Let’s all become soldiers in this fight.”
