Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma appeared before the Andhra Pradesh police on Friday for questioning regarding a case linked to offensive social media posts. Varma was summoned to the Ongole Rural Police Station, where he was interrogated by Circle Inspector Srikant Babu.

The case pertains to posts made by Varma during the previous election campaign, where he actively supported the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and released the political film ‘Vyuham’. As part of his campaign support, Varma allegedly posted manipulated images of then-opposition leader and current CM Chandrababu Naidu, Minister Nara Lokesh, and Jana Sena Party President & Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. The images, reportedly designed to demean the leaders, triggered strong objections from political rivals.

The controversy escalated when M. Ramalingam, a local TDP leader from Maddipadu, filed a formal complaint against Varma. Following this, the police registered a case and issued notices to the filmmaker. As part of the ongoing investigation, officials are questioning Varma regarding the intent and impact of his posts on the political atmosphere during the elections.

Accompanying Varma to the police station were several YSRCP leaders, including Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, highlighting the political weight of the situation. The case has sparked widespread debate, with political analysts closely watching further developments.
