Indian cinema is gearing up for one of its most ambitious projects to date – Ramayana, an epic retelling of the timeless legend, produced on the largest budget in Indian film history. While the story of the Ramayana is universally known, audiences are eagerly anticipating a fresh cinematic experience, combining state-of-the-art technology with stellar performances from top actors.
Planned as a two-part saga, the first installment is slated for release during Diwali 2026. A recently released short video by the filmmakers has already heightened expectations, showcasing the grandeur and scale of the project. The latest update from the film unit has intensified excitement further: Ramayana Part-1 will conclude with the emotional scene of Jatayu’s sacrifice. In the story, Jatayu bravely confronts Ravana during Sita’s abduction and, before his death, informs Lord Rama of the kidnapping. This poignant moment will serve as the climax of the first part, with the epic war set to unfold in the second installment.
Adding to the anticipation, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan will lend his iconic voice to Jatayu, bringing gravitas and emotional depth to this pivotal scene. The film boasts an ensemble cast, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Kannada superstar Yash stepping into the role of Ravana, promising a formidable and intense performance.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana promises a cinematic spectacle on an unprecedented scale. The second part is scheduled for Diwali 2027, exactly a year after the first release. With its ambitious vision, star-studded cast, and breathtaking storytelling, Ramayana is poised to become a landmark in Indian cinema.
