Backed by producer Namit Malhotra, Ramayana stands out as one of the most eagerly awaited films in recent times. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast, world-class VFX, and grand, immersive sets, the movie promises to be a breathtaking cinematic spectacle that combines visual grandeur with emotional depth. The film stars two of the biggest superstars—Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Raavan—yet interestingly, they are expected to share very little screen time together.
According to insiders, the makers have chosen to closely follow the original Valmiki Ramayana, where Lord Ram and Raavan’s paths remain largely separate until the final climactic battle. The two characters’ worlds unfold in parallel, with Ram learning about Raavan only after Sita’s abduction, and their first real encounter happening only on the battlefield of Lanka.
Director Nitesh Tiwari and his team’s creative decision to keep Ranbir Kapoor and Yash apart on screen adds a unique narrative layer to the film. By focusing on their separate journeys—one embodying dharma and virtue, the other driven by ego and power—the film builds anticipation for their ultimate showdown. Yash’s scenes with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Sunny Deol as Hanuman are already underway, while Ranbir’s schedule remains tight due to his commitments to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, which has affected his availability for Ramayana.
Currently, production is progressing on massive sets, with the film being made in two parts. The first installment is slated for release during Diwali 2026, followed by the second in Diwali 2027. Ranbir Kapoor has wrapped up his portions, while Yash began shooting after his recent visit to the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain.
This approach—minimizing shared screen time between the two leads—reflects the filmmakers’ dedication to preserving the authenticity of the epic while creating a modern cinematic masterpiece. In an era where star-driven films often force interactions for hype, Ramayana opts for a narrative-driven experience that honors the source material and promises a deeply immersive retelling.
Produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is shaping up to be India’s grandest mythological epic, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash. With its scale and star power, the film is poised to deliver an unforgettable cinematic journey that brings the divine story to life like never before.
