Netflix has officially announced that Rana Naidu Season 2 will premiere on June 13. Sharing the update, the platform wrote: “Jab baat parivaar ki ho, Rana harr line cross karega ❤️🔥 Watch Rana Naidu Season 2, out 13 June, only on Netflix.”
While fans of the Daggubati family are excited for the next chapter, there’s a lingering sense of caution among certain viewers. When the first season of Rana Naidu premiered two years ago, it sparked controversy for its bold scenes and raw, explicit dialogues. While many tuned in expecting a gripping crime drama, they were taken aback by the series’ intense adult content and oversexualized sequences.
The backlash was particularly strong from fans of Venkatesh Daggubati, who took issue with the strong language and mature themes. This also gave rise to a wave of memes and mixed reactions on social media surrounding Rana’s fiery character and the overall tone of the show.
Interestingly, Venkatesh himself addressed the concerns and reportedly promised fans that the second season would tone down its explicit language. With Season 2 now around the corner, it remains to be seen how far the creators have taken this feedback into account.
Rana Naidu brings together a unique blend of Bollywood and Tollywood stars and is an official adaptation of the American series Ray Donovan. While Season 1 was praised for its powerful performances and high production values, critics noted that some elements of the original show didn’t quite resonate with the Indian audience due to cultural differences.
All eyes are now on Season 2 — will it strike a better balance between grit and sensitivity? June 13 will tell.
