Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Records Strong First Weekend Surge at Box Office

Ranveer Singh’s latest spy action thriller Dhurandhar is successfully shrugging off mixed critical reviews to register a powerful first weekend at the Indian box office, largely aided by the absence of major competing releases across languages. The film opened to an impressive ₹27 crore net in India on its first day and further strengthened its momentum on Saturday.

As per reliable trade estimates, Dhurandhar collected ₹31 crore net on Day 2, pushing its two-day domestic total to ₹58 crore. This marks a healthy 15% growth over its opening day figures. Similar to Friday, the film recorded moderate occupancy during morning and matinee shows, with a significant spike in footfalls during evening and night shows across key urban markets.

Early trends for Sunday suggest that Dhurandhar is poised to wrap up its opening weekend on a robust note, with India net collections expected to touch the ₹90 crore mark. Worldwide earnings are projected to comfortably cross ₹100 crore. If the film manages to sustain this momentum through the weekdays without a sharp drop, it could emerge as one of the biggest commercial successes of Ranveer Singh’s career. At present, it is trending ahead of several of his recent releases.

A significant boost to the film’s performance also came from the lack of major releases in the Telugu and Tamil film industries. The last-minute postponement of Tollywood’s much-anticipated Akhanda 2 worked in Dhurandhar’s favour, leading to encouraging footfalls in cities such as Hyderabad and Vijayawada, even without a dubbed version.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh in the role of an undercover agent. The film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in key roles.
