Actress Rashmika Mandanna, celebrated for her strong presence in both commercial and content-driven cinema, has once again made headlines — not for a new role, but for her personal values. Widely regarded as one of the top pan-India actresses today, Rashmika recently reaffirmed her strict no-smoking stance when it comes to accepting film roles.
“I hate smoking. That’s why I turn down roles that require it. I feel such scenes could influence audiences negatively. No matter how big the project, I’m not willing to compromise on this,” she stated in a recent interview.
However, her firm stand sparked an online backlash when an old clip from one of her earlier films — where she is seen smoking on screen — resurfaced. Some netizens accused her of hypocrisy, questioning her consistency.
In response, Rashmika clarified that she has never smoked in real life and continues to avoid even being around smokers. She has addressed similar concerns in the past as well, once calmly replying to a troll who asked how many cigarettes she smokes daily by saying she abhors smoking completely.
While she has openly shared her interest in exploring global cuisines and enjoying wine occasionally, Rashmika remains unwavering on her anti-smoking values. Regardless of criticism, she continues to stand by her belief that on-screen actions can influence real-life behavior, and she is determined to use her platform responsibly.
