
Ravi Basrur, the acclaimed music composer known for his work in South Indian cinema, is all set for the Telugu release of his directorial venture Veerachandrasa on September 19. Famous for his powerful scores in director Prashanth Neel’s films like Ugramm, KGF, and Salaar, Basrur recently opened up to about his musical journey and upcoming projects.
Basrur began his career in Kannada cinema, gaining widespread recognition for the impactful background music in the KGF series, which left a lasting impression on audiences. He later worked on Salaar, another Prashanth Neel film.
While some fans initially felt the music in Salaar was more subdued compared to KGF, Basrur clarified that it was a creative choice by the director, opting for subtle and slow-building scores rather than instantly striking tunes. The soundtrack, however, received appreciation once the film became available online.
The success of Salaar also brought Basrur international attention. “After Salaar released, I received multiple calls from production houses in the US,” he shared. He added that the music was conceived with global standards in mind, further cementing his reputation.
Currently, Basrur has started composing music for the highly anticipated NTR-Prashanth Neel film, tentatively titled Dragon. So far, he has completed several versions of the soundtrack, raising fans’ expectations for a powerful musical experience in this upcoming commercial action drama.
