Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao deserves a prominent place in the Guinness Book of World Records, if what he claims is really true. The TRS president the other day said he never wanted to become a politician, but a litterateur.
He said he was a voracious reader and claimed that he had read more than 80,000 books so far. This claim is now being countered by his critics. “He should have used simple mathematics before making such a tall claim,” a rival political leader observed. And he gave an explanation for calling KCR’s claim a humbug.
“Assuming that it takes four for a person to read a book, he can at the most read three books in a day, after deducting hours of sleep and other activities. Thus, in a year, he can read at the most 1,000 books. It means, to read 80,000 books, he should have been 80 years by now. But KCR is only 61 years.
Assuming that he had started reading books from the age of 11 years, he must have completed only 50,000 books at the rate of 1,000 books a year,” the politician calculated. Even if KCR had read 50,000 books during his life time, he truly deserves entry into the Guinness Book of World Records, he said.
