Relief Fund cheques bounced during Prez rule!

Deputy CLP leader in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has alleged that nearly 3,600 cheques issued towards CMRF during President’s Rule in undivided Andhra Pradesh were not honoured by banks. The cheques were issued towards medical relief to the poor and needy persons under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in undivided AP when it was under the President’s Rule from March 1st to June 1st this year.
Shabbir Ali said that the beneficiaries were issued cheques on different dates in the month of May this year following clearance of applications by a committee appointed by Governor ESL Narasimhan. Since all those cheques were valid for one month only after the date of issue, they expired. Consequently, poor patients who felt relieved after getting the cheques, were cheated and pushed into economic crisis, he alleged.
Shabbir Ali said when he brought the matter to the notice of the Governor when the Telangana Congress delegation called on him on Tuesday, the Governor asked him to represent the matter in writing. “Today I have written a letter to the Governor while enclosing a copy of few cheques which got dishonoured. What I have mentioned is just the tip of the iceberg. At least 3,600 cheques issued towards the CMRF under Governor’s directions during the President’s Rule were not honoured for different reasons,” he said.
