In a minor relief to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the special court has turned down the CBI petition against Jagan seeking cancelling of his conditional bail. The CBI had alleged that Jagan, the prime accused in the Disproportionate Assets case, is trying to ‘influence’ the witnesses in the most crucial case and hence asked the court to cancel the bail it granted him.
After hearing the case from both parties, the court quashed the plea to cancel Jagan’s bail. Meanwhile, a detailed verdict of the Special Court is yet to come.
It can be noted that the special CBI court had granted conditional bail to YS Jagan in Sep 2013 after spending 16 months in jail. Jagan was arrested in May 2012 in the alleged DA case when he was the Member of the Parliament. The CBI has listed Jagan as A-1 and accused him of indulging in quid-pro-quo. Following the directions from AP High Court in 2011, FIR was first registered against Jagan in Aug 2011 by the CBI. On the court’s directions, the CBI had done a thorough investigation and registered 10 charge-sheets against Jagan.
